Boosted 5th Gen guys, Fuel Pump Question

This is specific to 5th gens only. (dont know if 5th and 5.5th gens have the same fuel pump canister design)

When you installed your Walbro255 (GSS342), did you have any fitment issues installing it into the fuel pump canister? I put one into a friend's car and the pump seems to be longer by about 1/4" and with the canister fully assembled, #1 the rubber isolator at the bottom will NOT fit at all, and even still, #2 at the top I have it pretty well squeezed against the top of the canister to the point I was getting no fuel pressure at all but I did hear the pump run. Swapped back to the stocker and worked perfect.

I know the pump isnt defective, as I said, it works and shoots the fuel no problem. It's a fitment issue that I'm having here that is basically blocking the flow! I also notice at the top, on the pump outlets of the stocker and the Walbro, there is a tire-stem-like valve. In the stocker its about 1/4" below the level of the top of the outlet, where as in the Walbro that valve is flush with the top!

We got in touch with Secondtonone and he says he's installed 2 of these in 2 different 5th gens and had no trouble what so ever. So this is really odd.

Thanx for any input!

I just usually leave off the pieces on the botton.....that plastic piece(retainer thing) and the other rubber piece.......no issues whatsoever

The walbro is slightly taller but if you leave off those 2 pieces and put the stock strainer on its a-o-k

I mean its not going anywhere in that cannister
