Another Supercharged 4.5 Gen

Well I am in the process of putting the motor back into the car. Anyways the setup is a 2004 VQ35 on 3.0 timing, V2 on a V1 bracket, 2.87 pulley, 3" charge piping, JWT ecu with 370cc and z32 maf, z32 maf, Deatschworks 600cc injectors, Cattman headers, 3" warpspeed catback, Innovate LC-1 wideband, Greddy EMU, ARP rod bolts, and a short shifter. The only problem I have had so far is the the damn injectors and their clips. The injectors are deatschworks 600cc's. For some reason, these clips will not fit snug like the stock injectors do. Someone please tell me the secret!
Thanks,
Zack

Are you using Z injector clips, or DEK, or DE?

I am using the DE injector clips. I believe its the Deatschworks design that makes it difficult to snap these in place. And yes I chose s/c over turbo. A local buddy of mine unfortunately totalled his car and offered me a smokin deal. It should be running today.

Nice. I know its going to be a beast. I'm planning on going the same 3.5 S/C route myself soon. I'm searching for build parts as we speak. Please post Videos. Are you going to use some cooling source(intercooler, N02, Meth) of some sort?

So I have everything hooked up yet the car won't start. The first thing I thought was the fact that there would be too much fuel with the 600cc injectors, thus flooding the motor. I pulled fuel with the EMU and it began to sound mildly different, but still wouldn't start. Next thing I messed with was the Z32 MAF. I tried wiring it differently, and I tried going back to the stock MAF; still no change. A new battery also didn't do the trick. I pulled a spark plug and checked for spark; there is none. Tomorrow I will check fuses. Initially we hooked up jumper cables and I had forgotten to tighten down the main ground. Hopefully I can get this figured out tomorrow. I am way too tired tonight. If anyone has any ideas let me know, same goes for the injector clips (injectors do leak).

Zack, I hope you get it running, but my suspicion would be the ecu since you are not getting spark. For the injector problem, did you use new seals? If so then I would get with Deatschwerks to see if they can figure it out. Hopefully I can ride in this beast soon, but don't kill me man I got kids.

Nice work Zack! Sorry I have not got ahold of you about your questions, I have had a bit of misfortune myself with one of my max's and have been trying to figure out what I should do.

Hopefully you get it running right, when you do post vids asap!

Just a quick update, Zack chased down the spark (bad crank sensor) and then had severe flooding problems. He did a bit more reading and changed the duty cycle on the injectors.

Idle FTW, now it's all about tuning.

Will, I drove my other maxima haha. And, nozama was close, but it was the lag time mainly, and the fuel psi and duty cycle. I cant seem to get the a/f to go under 12, its staying around 15 so I am pretty scared at the moment. It still has a stock ecu so I am going to try throwing the jim wolf in and changing all the emu stuff to try and get a safe a/f. But wow guys, just resting my foot on the gas, will snap you into your seat. I can tell there is PLENTY of power there, hopefully I can use it soon!

ohhh im in on this one... im excited

how involved was it going from 3.5 timing to 3.0? is it pretty straight forward or were any (slight or major) modifications needed?

also.. just to make sure.. you have the stock 2004 3.5 cams in there right?

Couple things to note Zack, I would verify the MAF wiring when you get the JWT in there. I'm still worried about contention between the EU and the JWT ECU, but now that you've found the ignition and fuel pressure issue, things might be cakework afterwards.

Im about to try the JWT ECU here in a bit. It is definitely going to be tricky though. Defownz, I am running a 2.87 pulley which equals 13 psi. Mistmax, they are the 04 cams. I bought a 98 with this motor in it but I totalled it, so I cannot take credit for the full swap. But I did move it over to my gold car which I have had for three years. Pics and vids will be up as soon as I can get it tuned and get the 3" cat back welded up.

With those 600cc injectors are you running out of flow when you're trying to tune?

He doesn't have all the gauges hooked up yet, but we did some runs. So far up around 6k rpm he's dropping down to 9.1afr. The car is pulling pretty good, but there are some clear signs there is a lot of tuning to come. The car bogs down low pretty good, and the power delivery isn't very linear (there seems to be moments of strong pull, then moments of hesitation, then strong pull). The car pulls fast too. We did a 3rd gear pull from 30 and in a couple seconds we hit 80. Right now he's using stock ECU, with Z32 MAF and EU.

The car is going to be ridiculous...reminds me of my car.

I need a tune badly before I want to have a meet. Its been really tempermental and I am tired of ****ing with it. I think I am going to have a shop dyno tune it for me. Then I will get a good tune, and Ill have some numbers.

Ok I have some new pictures of it installed. First of all, this was the main reason it wouldn't start.

No splash guards + road debris = unhappy crank sensor. Anyways, on with the happy pictures!
Entire engine bay. The 3.0 piping did not agree with the throttle body position, what a head ache:

And finally the exterior. I am going for the complete sleeper look, which is also why I want my gauges hidden.

And the only stickers on the car. Gotta rep cattman and the local group!

Looks like a nice, clean install. Have fun with it. Hope you have a couple extra sets of tires cause you'll probably burn through those 16's really easy. Can't wait to see the dyno results.
