Max boost on VQ35 with stock injectors, fpr, and walbro fuel pump

I want to fabricate my own turbo kit and I have in the past on my Nissan Altima, looks like my biggest tackle is the downpipe and welding that thing. I really just want a few lb's of boost without going overboard. I was thinking a 3-5psi spring in the wastegate with a rising rate fpr and walbro 255lp and running that until I get the emanage ultimate and new injectors due to boost itch haha. Anyone on here running stock injectors and ecu I guess is my real question.

Thank You

_Stephen

Ya I was NissanFreak. I had about 10-12 lbs on my car with a rising rate fpr, jwt ecu, 370cc injectors, and a walbro 255lp pump. My maxima is fast with bolt ons and im only looking for 280-300whp. I want it to be more reliable then my altima was. I would blow up things regularly. My engine had about 180k when I rolled it in the the stealership. Had about a quart of oil left in the engine due to bad valveseals when I parted with it. I guess I want to make this car more reliable.

That's a good question. The two 5.5 gen's that I know of, have larger injectors. I think you should get a wide band o2 sensor and J&S safeguard. Atleast you will have some protection for your engine. And slowly turn the boost up. I'm sure someone has or is trying it but have not posted. Try to search for turbo 4.5 gens and Altimas with the 3.5L.

I just did a quick search for turbo 3.5 and this may help you. You should pm the gentleman who started this thread
3.5 Swap + 4psi of Turbo

Good luck..

That's my thread from when I first turbo'd my car. But it doesnt give any good info. I had 2 boost leaks that I found after the dyno first of all. But by this dyno I already had the RC 440s, 3" MAF, and FP was set to 47-50psi for that dyno IIRC. So it doesnt answer much to his inquire of the stock stuff. Sorry

Even if you run 440's dont you still need something for you ecu. I had a JWT ECU on my altima. If I just put 440's in there it would run extremely rich. Guess maybe I will just go balls to the wall and get the emanage and just get it all tuned. BTW 95BLKMax ever worry about sucking in water with your turbo like that. Is it by you muffler?

JWT ECUs always ran rich , I had the 550 / cobra maf for the ka-t then later upgrade to 72s.. Clark had loads of fun back in the days... that was all before standalone came around in the Y2K

You're right, it would indeed run pig rich. I had been tuning with an AFC for 3yrs total on my last 3 setups (3.0 NA, 3.5 NA, 3.5 ubber low boost). But even in that dyno there you can see that I wasnt able to really smooth out the a/f much. Needless to say I finally upgraded to an Emanage Blue about 2 months ago and its MUCH better now. Should have upgraded while still NA

Nope, turbo itself sits high up against the trunk's floor board.

As you see, the filter itself (I know its missing there but just imagine, lol) doesnt sit any lower than a CAI filter sits. The rule of thumb is simple "if you wouldnt drive through it with a CAI, do NOT drive through it with RMT".

To 95BLKMAX: Damn thats a crazy setup. Just out of curiousity hows that oil line set up? On my setup I am planning to run a oil filter adapter plate that allows you to t off the stainless steel line to the turbo. My drain line was going to run from the bottom of the turbo to the oil pan with a nipple. You must have a long pipe running to you intercooler. Its just amazing how much power your yielding with that setup.

To Nizmo1o:; Ya your right. I actually talked to technosquare about a turbo chip. They dont offer one. So I figured for almost the same amount you could get a emanage ultimate would would be quite versitile. No matter how I look at it im probably spending around $3500 when all is said and done. Thats doing it cheap enough to where its reliable. I talked to someone about putting a turbo kit on there mustang. They thought they can spend $1000 and get it done. I laughed and said good luck. They didnt even know they needed to run a oil line haha.

plate like this? http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d4.../Muffler16.jpg
lol

mine dumps the oil back into the engine through a barb I fitted on the side of the front valve cover. Oil dumps right into the top of the head

You might want to look into the UTEC , but you might need to do some splicin.. I guess thats why the A33/5.5 used the Emange over the UTEC , Im running the UTEC on a A34 but it all plug and play.

good luck on the project

UTEC is plug n play on the A34 ECU because its basically the same pinout as the Z33 ECU which they already had done. This is not the case for the A33b and below. So to use the UTEC on those, one would have to splice into it like with any other piggy back.

Now looking at it from a cost-benefit point of view... for the purposes that most people around here use piggybacks, the EU is about the best bang for the buck. UTEC is "noticeably" more expensive (granted, it IS better, but for the purposes of 98% of the people on the org, its not justifiable spending the extra $ for it)

No one has gotten the EU to work 100% with the 5.5 gen(I will be trying soon). UTEC is teh way to go IMO

ah this is a good point! Last time I heard of an EU on a 5.5gen (Jime) it melted the coils. Something about that it needs resistors or diodes put inline bet'n the EU's Ign Output wires and the Coils' wires. That's actually quite common. When installing them on later model BMWs (such as E36 and E46s) one must do the same thing

So I am guessing you guys are running the TurboXS UTEC they make for the 350Z/G35?

To 95BLKMAX:
If your drain lines going to the valve cover, what are you going to do if your turbo one day blows its bearings and you get metal shaving in the top of your engine. I think a filter in between the valve cover and the dump line maybe necessary. Thats why I always ran to the oil pan. Maybe you have that?

Thank you all btw this threads been useful.
