Any Experience with Flowmasters ?
My dynomax seems to have failed internally again and I need something different. This is actually my second muffler from them and still failed, what luck I have with these stupid aftermarket parts.
Well does anyone have any experience with flowmaster mufflers ? It would be 3.00" IN(C)/OUT(C)
Maybe this one...

Or do I get a magnaflow 3"

get a burns stainless steel muffler.
Between flowmaster and magnaflow, id get magnaflow, flowmasters from what ive seen dont sound too great on anything less then a V8. They kinda give the car that straight through sound, tinny almost. I know a good flowing exhaust does, but for the little difference it makes, id rather it sound nice IMO.
Personally, magnaflow/flowmaster sound MUCH better on V8's. Not to disrespect any of you who are using them on your 4/6cylinders, but in my opinion, they is much more of a selection of mufflers which are more suited for 4/6 cylinders.
Seeing as you had a super turbo muffler, id suspect you dont want anything too loud. How about an HKS Hi-Power muffler? Burns stainless make excellent products, while pricey, ill put money on it, it'll be the LAST muffler your car will ever use.

Right now, the sound I get out of my Super Turbo, is where I wanna be. I HATE raspy exhausts where thats all you hear. I had an Apexi WS 3" when my second Dynomax failed and took that off in a week. I HATED It !!! I would stick with Dynomax but this is my 3RD one, and this is one failed the worst.
Im afraid if I go with a Dynomax/Flowmaster/Hooker, Im going to get that raspy sound. Glasspack internalls/Chambered ? Its kind of a gamble.

that is the muffler I have. Keep in mind tho that I do have a turbo right in front of it, so the sound is already being muffled a bit by the turbine. But either way, I love how it sounds. No drone, just deep tone at low RPM and silent after the turbo spools (all I hear then is the turbine screaming right through the muffler).
No nasty magnaflow bazooka muffler drone/ big empty can sound. It does take up some of the power (but then again, my turbo is just about 8-10" before it, lol), but its worth it to me. I do have a cutout after all, LOL

Look into the Borla ProXS Mufflers. I had actually test fitted one onto my car but never ended up using it due to time constraints. It sounded pretty good, considering i did have a y-pipe IMO any maxima with an un-equal length y-pipe sounds pretty crappy compared to headers/equal length y-pipe.

Well I called Dynomax and they stated im putting too much air through the system for the muffler to hold up, and thats why they keep failing. How can they produce a 3" muffler and not expect alot of air to be flowing. They recommend a Dynomax Ultra Flo which a straight through design.
Its a toss up between
Flowmaster http://store.summitracing.com/partde...953045&FROM=MG
or
Hooker http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
I would like the same sound I am getting out of my Dynomax but I dont think thats gonna happen with a chammbered or a straight through muffler. I just DONT want that raspy sound that I cant stand.

Matty... I ran 2 chamber flowmaster ( 40 series) on my 92 GXE w/ 2" pipes when I was living in NYC. ( I dont have turbo) The sound was not tinny or raspy on my car. It did have a drone below 2500 rpm tho. After 6 years of usage, the internal baffles ( chambers )all broke. It was nothin more then a hollow muffler. The exhaust shop explained to me that since the muffler is located all the way at the rear of the car, moisture pretty much rotted the muff inside out because the exhaust gasses cool off and moisture builds up.( ever notice that water drops from your tail pipes sometimes??) Anyway... I ran a 60 series ( import flowmaster ) to replace it w/ 2.25 " pipes and it was ok. In my Chevy days, I always ran flowmasters. But it definitely sounds different on an import 6 cyl.
On my current car (92VE) w/WSP y-pipe,I ran a magnaflow and it was TOO LOUD for my taste. I swapped that put for an 05 OEM Altima SE-R muffler. No drone and a very slight rumble. Plus it comes w/ the tip...lol Asside from that... I know it will last long cuz OEM muffs seldom rot out.

Yea I dont think this is happening because of moisture, but you never know. I called Dynomax and they blamed it on the amount of power I am pushing through it ?!?! Why would you make a 3" muffler and not have it designed to flow and not completly fall apart. Just doesnt make sense to me.
Anyone have experience with Hooker Aero Mufflers ?

Magnaflow sound like ****, all they are is a resonator. Flowmasters are the loudest mufflers I have heard.

I put one of these SUV Flowmasters on my max - hella stout, for SUVs... Sounds deep, practically straight through, and a bit heavy.. lots of spray hasn't bothered it - got it because my 4-year-old Dynomax Turbo blew out its baffles.
Jegs has these much less than retail....
