Bye Bye turbo maxima...
Well some of you may know that I recently sold my turbo kit, I reverted the max back to i/y/e and kept it as a DD. Its been a good 2 years being turboed and good 6 with modding the max in general. I've learned a lot thru the years from the org. and I like to thank all of you for helping out, without you guys I probably be another ricer on the street thinking I'm hardcore or something.
So gone is the turbo kit, in comes my next toy...
Orignally, I was looking into a couple of 350zTT but I met the owner of this EVO thru a friend. I first learned about the amount of mods and the time he had spent on this car, not only did he kept this car in immaculate condition but it's been garage kept most of its life. It was apparent then that this was the best deal for me.
Here are some specs of the car: (I still don't know all but heres what I remember)
03 EVO w/ ~27,500 miles (1 tiny door ding/1 little scratch on the rear bumper and some rock chips on the hood)
-motor was built @ 26K mles (not blown but the owner wanted upgrade internals so only 1500 on the built motor)
-Ross pistons
-Eagle rods
-Cosworth Bearings
-ARP hardware
-AMS 35r turbo kit
-AMS IC and lower IC piping kit
-1000cc injectors running with Cobb Acess Port
-AMS fuel rail with upgrade lines on (2) Walbro 255lph FP
-AMS 3in exhaust
-HKS 272 cams
-Tein Flex coilovers with EDFC
-VIS CF trunk and stock trunk w/ EVO III CF wing
-Defi Boost, EGT, Oil pressure with controller
-Innovative WB
-Exendy twin disk cermetalic clutch
-Advan RG 17x9, his race rims (13lbs per)
-Enkei Borex 18x9, street rims
and many more mods that I can't think of.
So prior to his build, he ran a 11.7 @123 on 26psi. I'm hoping to reach low 11's with the current setup. He is tunning the car this week with a base map of 20-22psi @ ~450ish whp and race gas setup will be upwards of 28-30psi. I'm excited to pick it up next week and start relearning how to drive an awd.
I will still be around the org. as I still will have the DD max, I hope I won't regret making this decision...so wish me luck!
p.s. the funny thing is this car has the same turbo that I ran on the max, its like I never sold the turbo at all.
O sorry for the long read and this wasn't related to a maxima...

I'm not certain, I think tranny has been taken apart when he did the clutch, I would have to double check with him. He's a engineer at Edge products so he tunes and looks at this type of stuff all day.
I'm looking at upgrading the transfer case with a Sheperd helical t-case or even Quaife if I can afford it and if the trans isn't done, a sheperd rebuild. I know he changes his trans, t-case and rear diff fluid every other oil change. The car isn't driven often enough to but I will for sure check on these things. Thanks guys for the heads up.

From personal experiance TRE has VERY poor turnaround time and NO communication whatsoever. Try emailing them about turnaround time on a trans once or even try calling i bet you get no answer on either

There are some local guys that do dsm trans, called Jackstranssmissions. I never heard of any complaints about them, and have some of the best prices.

I've actually looking into TRE and Sheperd right now but I'm not quite ready to upgrade since the extra money went to the down payment. I've pm Neal and doing more research as I go along. I'm looking at TRE's t case and rear diff work, they looks like really good deals but I also heard the lack of communication from the evom forums.

From personal experiance i would go/went with buschur racing, daniel buschur does there "bushwacker" rebuild and the **** is bulletproof like shep for cheaper. excellent guys over there. and Neal man i wish that was common knowlage because i would have contacted you when TRE had my trans for months on end with no contact...

Thanks Neal for getting me in touch with Jon, I'll be doing the tcase upgrade thru TRE in about a month or so. I'm loving the car so far, haven't been hard on it but the sound from the turbo spool is insane!

Found out the reason why he didn't stroke it... from what he said, most of the fastest drag evos are still 2.0s along with the fact that he wanted to be able to maintain higher revs too. Granted 2.3 has its benefits, he stuck with the 2.0.
Just ran a 12.9@104 with a 1.9 60' uncorrected,12.6 @106 corrected last friday. Took me the third time to get there with no experience racing an awd.
Total street setup, conservative street tune on 20psi with heavy 18in wheels and tires.

35r BB is probably the best turbo for an EVO. it minimizes the insane amount of lag the engine produces. Good move, hope you like it!
