Oh and I was wondering if you have pics of the turbokit when you received it like out of box pictures. That would be look I am really looking forward to seeing this maybe finally I have a cheaper solution to turbocharge my altima in the future.
Look on my homepage, its page 3 on my cardomain, its all there.

from what I can see in the pic's the turbo sits almost as low and streetz rear mount
does sit low BUT, not close to the cross member. BTW tom I got this tranny cooler that mounts to the support frame I am going to run 3 tranny coolers to be safe. and I am doing the rear mounted oil cooler with ss braided lines, all the stuff is ordered.

I think tom's gotta add another tranny cooler too. He's cooler was the other night at the track.

I think running 3 coolers could cause psi drop in the tranny, you want the least amount on connects and the lines as short as possible.
I was talking to a guy that owns a tranny shop and he said try a bigger cooler or one with a fan he said the fan is good for another 60-70 degree drop in temp over a normal cooler plus it will still cool the fluid if your stuck in traffic idling
I plan to just mount a fan on the cooler with a temp switch this way the fan it now running when the tranny is still cold

Update: I purchased a 450hp rated oil cooler and rear mounted it to the maxima. looks pretty good. it changed the filter the maxima uses, but its bigger and cheaper FTW!!! I ran oil lines from the front to the rear of the car and strapped the lines in. I have to construct an outer housing for it that will be at a later date.

Update: dyno tuned yesterday, 9psi tuned here are the numbers,.... 227.5wtq, 214.4whp (automatic). standard correction method. here are the mods besides the turbo, udp, 3'' exhaust (dynoed w/ tip in). Blehmco ground wire kit. turbo xs boost controller. CDI unit. This max is now a BEAST!!!! i have the graph I will post it up later
I removed the rear tip on the exhaust and cut out a NACA duct into the hood... WAY MORE POWER!!!!! Will dyno next weekends

Got a runfile or pic of the run? Sounds like it was done in 2nd gear.

thats terrible. an S/C max with 7 psi will put out a bit more than that to the wheels on an auto FOURTH gen

A beast?? I mean 215whp on a 3000+lb auto is hardly a beast. I would be very disappointed if i were you.
What ever makes you happy

Man 215whp is not what I expecting especially on 9psi. Since from what you say about this kit being powered by both manifolds, it would be close to 300whp if not more comparing to a "traditionally" turbo max. Even with a faulty VAIS, a heavily NA modded DE/DEK and a little mod 3.5 can reach those numbers.
Thats really odd man. I dynoed 258whp and 263lb tq at like 6.5psi-7psi. Its automatic as well, 4th gen with 00vi, and rear mounted turbo. Peak tq was at about 4300RPM, and peak HP was at about 5600RPM. I have a T04b .60ar cold and .69ar hot side.

It's nice and all to be turbo, but the dyno numbers really are low. Back when I was all motor and auto, my car dyno'd at 195whp. And when SC and stick it was 311whp on 3.33sc pulley (9psi). Just get it tuned, then come play....LOL
I also think that turbo is alittle small for a VQ motor too. And most people with s14 sr20det motors have that same turbo, and they only pull like 250whp on like 15psi. And remember 18-20psi is max for the turbo.

I don't think we're getting the whole story here. While the turbo is definately too small for for the VQ, I've got to believe that there are other factors contributing to the extremely low numbers. Whether it be boost leaks, dyno errors, mechanical problems on his car, whatever.
edit: According to the website this is a T28 of unknown variety (not sure what wheel) but it's possible it's a very small wheel or even a T25 of some sort and that this really is all that the supplied turbo can flow for air... If it was one of the larger T28 wheels then you'd probably be able to make 275ish whp on 10psi or so, and probably max out around 300 perhaps 325whp at around 12-14psi with a really good tune.
So depending on specifically what turbo comes with the kit, you might be able to make some pretty decent power with it, or if the company really screwed the pooch and supplied some tiny wheel, then the actual turbo in this kit would be complete trash for a VQ application and you'd want to treat it as such and get yourself a more appropriately sized compressor.
I still say this kit could be a good thing for some guys who want to turbocharge and don't have the means of doing it themselves, it might just require the purchase of a properly sized turbo to go with it.

but then you have to consider the fact the a "properly" sized turbo to suit the motor might cause clearance issues

I havent read the hole thread, but im not impressed with the numbers , my 3.5 with I/E will rip you a new hole.......... what kind of tunning /fuel managment do you have if any?
Something is wrong bro, try to compare your dyno run files to some one else and see whats going on, even if they have a different kit.

doc any updates? have u done any further investigation into "what could possibly be going on" with this kit (tryin to rule out the OBVIOUS that the turbo is pretty dang small for the VQ). My 3.5 allmotor swap makes 22whp/6wtq more than what ou put down, and this is with standard correction as well, thats pretty bad for 9psi, thats bad for 5psi for all its worth.
I really think this kit is designed more in the lines of the VQ20DE, but even the VQ20DE kit has a T25!
Keep us updated on whats going on.

Guys I need money to recover from my recent engine build (it wasnt by choice LOL). Im selling a Holset turbo if you are interested
I’m sorry I should have put in my two cents quite a while ago. I have this kit. I own a 1996 Infiniti I30. I have had it for nearly three years now. I am not especially happy with it. When I first was on the dyno I made 187 whp and 246 wtq as shown on the included dyno sheets. This was with the upgraded t28 turbo they offered running 6 PSI.
I leaned way out as you can see for the dyno sheets. My first problem with this kit is the fitment. You have to move the radiator but they do not include new brackets. Also the cooling lines for the turbo are about a foot and a half too long. Also, the coolant lines are already leaking. The kit makes you run your piping under the bumper. While that’s not such a terrible thing, I am already lowered an inch and a half and that caused me to loose more ground clearance in the front end. The MAF adaptor they included did not fit the MAF for the car. The MAF also was not on the charged side so after you blow off a few times it starts backfiring because it goes rich. There were so many things about the kit that were not well thought out it drove me nuts. However it was my first turbo setup so I did not know much. The more I learned I realized how terrible it was.
About a year ago I switched the MAF to the charged side; put a different intake on the turbo and exhaust. The exhaust I have is 2.5 inches pre cat, the high flow cat customaxima.com sold, and 3 inch cat-back. After that was done I wanted to know what it was making for numbers. My boss let another employee and I use a G tech pro so we would better know its features. The numbers it told me I was making was 297 whp and 347 wtq. I believe these numbers are somewhat close because I could feel it pull much harder. However the G tech is completely dependent on the weight you program it with. So I would say those are not the most accurate numbers, but close.
These numbers were better but not what I was hoping for. So I have recently bought new injectors, a lightened flywheel, emanage ultimate, new fuel pump, a much larger intercooler, larger piping, boost controller, wideband o2, etc. To make this long story short for $3200 this kit is not worth it. If I would have had a better idea of what I was doing at the time I bought it I could have made a much better kit with that kind of money. I have no idea what I am making now because I have not quite finished. I can say that the numbers they say you can make with the kit are completely unrealistic unless the kit is severely modified. Hope all this helps someone.
