power steering/fuel line questions

Can the power steering hardlines be replaced? If so, with what, precisely, and how? Where would I find a replacement?

The same question for the fuel hose. I need to replace my fuel hoses as well. Can they be replaced with stainless steel flexible lines? If so, where might I find replacement lines?

I guess I should be more direct... with what and HOW did people replace the metal power steering hard-line that runs underneath the site of the blower install?

You should have metal lines that run to outfront your car as a cooler then back to your resevior. If you dont, youll need to bend and make those lines.

If you do have those lines, all you need to do it get power steering high pressure hose in 3/8", about 9 foot, cut the line in half and run two rubber lines to the front cooler. One from one port on your resevior to one side of the metal line, and the other side of the metal line to the other side of the resevior. Tuck them to the side out of the way, and your done

Rubber Power Steering Lines:GXE and GLE do NOT have those lines. I would think 9 feet of 3/8" High pressure P/S hose will suffice the install. 5/16" High pressure line will also work. GLE/GXE guys will have to get 5/16 Brake Hardline and Bend a Cooler for the front of your car. Small Pipe bender also needed.

has anyone ever just removed the p/s cooler altogether? I mean, its barely even a "cooler" (just a puny metal loop) I know on my Integra I took my p/s cooler out when I stripped out my A/C and just looped the line off the resevoir...drove the car for 2 years no problems with no cooler and the one on my Integra was 2 times bigger(longer) than the Maxima unit.

Don't overlook your local hose shop. If you live anywhere close to an industrial area there will likely be a shop that can make what you need in minutes for very cheap, whether it's stainless braided or just hydraulic rubber line.

that oil heats up. It would be wise to cool that power steering oil some. Heat destroys alot stuff. The life of the power steering wont last long. I say cool it. Makes sense!

ATF handles some high temp correct. But at the same time auto trannies have some type of way to get rid of the heat. Look in front of any Ford truck with auto tranny. You will see the tranny cooler in front of the radiator. Is not a line is a cooler.
