converting from auto to manuel
you should not have to worry about space if your trying to convert from an automatic transmission to an manuel. Automatic transmissions are bigger. I would however be concened about some of the modifications needed. For one thing a whole new space will neeeded to be cut for the manuel gearbox. you will also probably have to run some hydraulic lines from the manuel transmission to the hydraulic boost resv

Chris'sMax is still auto for some reason and has probably had the most success with it. He is just real easy on his car. He also has VB mod and tranny cooler IIRC which really help a lot along with good synthetic ATF. You can get a built auto from different places on here, but it would cost a lot and it still wouldn't be as fun as a 5MT IMO.

The process is the same. Some of the wires might be different since you have a 5th gen.

Wow...2 total posts and the dude's an expert....
Many people, including yours truly, have converted to a 5spd from an Auto without any fabrication or parts needed other than stock parts. (Unless you count the aftermarket clutch)
There's even already an area in the firewall perforated in the sheet metal you knock out for the hole for the pedal and the area under the Auto Shifter is ready to have a 5spd shifter asembly added.
Since 4th Gen guys use 2000/2001 AE 5spd trannies in theri conversions - I see no reason the 5th Gen would be any different to convert.

i took my tranny apart and third gear was seized, the clutch seized to the steals so i'm rebuilding it and i'm gonna add more clutches to third gear and see how it works. 1st and 2nd were perfrect no wear at all, so third is the problem gear on a built up tranny.

I have been s/c auto for 2.5 years and have no issues. VB, manumatic and tranny cooler is probably what saved it.
