What is our max oil pressure under normal operation?

I'm redoing the oil feed/return system on my turbo and if I find that there is no restrictor on this turbo then I'm considering getting one, but I'd like to know our max normal oil pressure first to help me decide.

According to the eFSM it is

at Idle: ~10psi
at 3000rpm: 63.1 - 79.9

My auto meter reads 7 at idle, and between 60 and 70 at 3000 rpm depending on engine temp.

I have found my VE and others to be around 95-100 psi at WOT. According to Maximum Boost, you don't want anything more than 70psi going into the turbo or you'll risk smoking. But I am pretty sure your motor is over 70psi while near redline at WOT. So, you'll need a restrictor. The SR guys commonly use a .060" restrictor. That is also what Maximum Boost speaks about the most.

Also, some food for thought, it also says that the absolute minimum pressure you want going into your turbo near redline at WOT is 25psi. So, you want 25-70psi at your turbo at WOT. I am thinking about rigging up my gauge during my design phase just to determine the pressure going into the turbo under maximum load.

BTW, you need an oil pressure gauge. You can get a cheap Sunpro electric OP gauge at Auto Zone for like $25. Buy a nice adapter housing for $20 and you're set. Here's a link: http://www.stealthmodeperformance.com/blockfitting.htm

Do you have any good links that show how to choose a proper restrictor?
