when FI how to tweak timing?

ok i have an 01 max with, stillen v2, i can use factory consult scan tool to increase or retard the timing 2 degrees at base. the question is do i benefit more from retarding it or advancing it?

any help would be apreciated.

you get more power by advancing it - but you run it more safely by retarding timing. You gotta find a nice balance between performance/ safety.

If the consult is anyting like the 4th gens you can't do anything but read the timing. It does not allow for it to be adjusted.

You only want to decrease timing to avoid detonation. For FI applications timing should be pulled back a bit right before peak torque, then added back in after.
