Lag under partial throttle

Lag under partial throttle
I've been noticing around maybe 35% of the time now, when taking off from stops, that there's a heavy amount of lag around 2400-3000rpm. Light goes green, 1/3rd throttle down, acceleration until 2400rpm, and then it feels slower than my car BEFORE the SC was in until it shifts at around 2800-3000rpm. I've fluxuated pedal pressure from 1/4 to 1/2 when this occurs, and on 1/4 throttle, it shifts sooner to the next gear, lag goes away, problem solved. However, the only few times I've done 1/2 throttle during this "lag", the whole car has hesitated and then had a huge jolt, in which the acceleration went back to normal, and starts to haul.
I initially thought this might be my auto tranny on the way out, which I've been expecting. HOWEVER, during heavy runs, 9lbs of boost at redline in 1st gear, and a little over 10 in 2nd gear, there is NO transmission problem. I'm expecting the transmission to die out on hard driving BEFORE giving out on the easy driving. Any possibility it could go in the reverse order? If not, anyone know what it could be? I'm running the following:
17hg @ idle
V1 SC
3.00" Pulley
8:1 FMU
1 step colder plugs gapped to .034 (I think. Maybe .036, been a while since I did em)
160k km (100k miles)
fresh oil & tranny fluid.

Well, hope I can be of a little help...
With hesitation and something called safety boost (be glad you guys don't have to worry about safety boost)
With hesitation being a fragile thing w/ Z's the most common thing we address is to clean your contacts for your 02 connectors, your connector to the MAF, the very fragile TPS (throttle posistion sensor) and any other accessable connectors like injector/spark plug connectors. If there as a main harnass connector, clean that as well. Mine actually had gunk built up and I used fine sandpaper to get them back to a gold color. and I did notice my hesitation problems go away.
Try that 1st before trying anything else... that's just my suggestion
goodluck.
