Well, I know I haven't been on here much lately but I'm trying to get back. I already see that I'll miss the 7/20 meet because of a prior engagement.
2008 has been a very memorable year and we are only at the half way point. Not because I just turned 30

but because of what I'm currently fighting.
In January, I went to the doctor because I was constantly feeling cold and I was having some icky night sweats. I first did some blood work but I was later admitted to the hospital on my follow up appointment the week after. I stayed in the hospital for a week and was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hodgkin's_lymphoma) which is a form of cancer that affects the lymphnodes. Talking about shocked...I'm the spitting image of the "healthy male".
With God on my side, I was confident that I was going to beat this. I have trekked through three blood tranfusions, a temperature of 107 and uncontrollable shaking during my first chemo treatment, losing my hair and losing weight. No matter what...I was not about to let this disease defeat me.
Despite all of these issues, I have played flag football on weekends, I have not missed work unless it is my treatment day (every Friday and I'm back to work on Monday) and I was sporting a low buzz cut.

Strange but true, my hair has grown back pretty thick but the texture is completely different than it used to.
I just wanted to share my 2008 story so that any of you who are feeling down and out because of life's circumstances can keep your head up and don't pity your situation. You are only going through your issues so that you become stronger.
My chemo treatements are scheduled to end 7/18 if the cancer is completely wiped out. As of two weeks ago, the cancer cells in my body have been reduced in size by 70-90%. My energy and weight are back to normal so it is only a matter of time. Enjoy the summer folks!
PSA Guys, please make sure you visit the doctor...especially if you have insurance. Let's get passed our young and prideful days and visit the doctor for routine checkups and any abnormalities with your body.
