How long do your brakes last? My 95 GXE 5 spd has 98,000 miles and original brakes. I know I drive alot of hwy miles but come on. I keep checking them every 8,000 miles or so and they seem to still have pad left. Anyone else's brakes last this long? SHould I just change em anyways?

Yup

Mine lasted until 100,000. With all that highway driving, yo are hardly on the brakes.

There's no reason to replace brakes which are not worn out and which are performing properly.

A manual transmission car is less demanding on brakes than an automatic. On a gentle downgrade you may notice that drivers ahead of you are using their brakes, while you just ease off the gas pedal.

Good driving habits also contribute to long brake life. If you look far ahead, you can anticipate the need to slow down and use your brakes gently or not at all.

Highway mileage is easy on a car. Engine, clutch, brakes, they all last longer than if used in an urban environment.

Changed mine at 90K. Rears still original. The CFO here has 145k and original everything on the car, including brakes.
