Logged another kill for the Max
I know this probably doesn't sound like our usual competitor, but I don't get too many races...so I will take what I can get.
I was driving along today and saw a late model (like '99 or '00) Lexus LS400 driving rather agressively. It was driven by a guy in his mid to late 50's and he was singing along while changing lanes in between traffic. I also noticed a V1 radar detector on his dash which usually means a desire to drive fast.
I ended up next to him at a stoplight a couple miles up. Before the light turned green, he glanced over (in kind of a snobish way) to make sure I was going for it. He also started to creep forward right before he got the green.
We got the green and he definately raced. I managed to stay ahead of him the whole time, but could never see him in my side mirror. Luckily I had a very good launch (considering the rough road at that intersection). I couldn't pull much on him in the higher gears. We raced from about 0-70mph at which point we both braked hard. I only managed to pull about one car length on him by that point. He road up next to me and kind of looked at me with amazement. I couldn't help but have that snobish look on my face. Inside I was laughing.
I am just glad that I have a 5-speed and know how to drive. He would have easily killed a stock auto Maxima. Never under-estimate the older guys in luxury cars. A lot of those cars are very quick these days.
Enjoy the ride!

Never under estimate those LS400's (or especially the LS430's). The 400 is good for 290hp and a 0-60 in the 6's. The 430 is supposed to be the same hp, but 5.9-6.1 seconds for the 0-60. I agree that they aren't impressive in handling, but they are serious in the straight aways!

I'm hunting down a GXE 5 speed near Baltimore, Maryland. As soon as I find him, he's going down!
