Dont underestimate an is300 anymore.

Ok so we are cruising in atlanta earlier today in my friends max. Anyways we whip out of the mall beting the orange light by a hair. Up next to us is an is300. He looks over and says thats a nice car there you have. I love those rims. My buddy was like cool thanks. I was impresed that he did not want to race. So my friend revved his engine, he has an cai and apexi so of course the is300 looks over revs his engine as well. Except he has the sound of whats this a blow off valve. I was like no it cant be. We never raced but he went to a gas station so we whipped it in there. He has a freaking turbo is300 what the heck. Now the is300's competition now. He said he got it from www.powerhouseracing.com. I checked them out they normally do supras but now they have a catalog for the is300 now inculding a kit for 400+rwhp. Man what is this world coming to lol.

Hence the reason the IS will be my next car. Plus you are forgetting one more major reason it's better than the Max...Rear Wheel Drive. I'm sure I'll be flamed for that...

no reason to flame about the rear wheel drive man. I mean rear wheel drive is the way it should be. I cant afford an is but still a cool call nonetheless

Hm...a turbo IS300? I wish there's one around where I live, so I can see how I'll do against it.

IS300s are nice looking, but way down on power. Why pay 30+k for a car with a just average HP when you can get (for example) an Altima for much less that will leave the fancy Toyota wondering what the hell just happened. Until they offer it with 250hp+, I'm no too big of a fan.

Well, the way Nissan/Infiniti is going horsepower crazy these days, it won't be too far away that Honda/Toyota and their luxury counterparts will follow in Nissan's horsepower footsteps...

Would you please educate me why rear wheel drive is better than front? I asked several friends of mine and every time I got different answer. Seems to me luxury cars are rear wheel drive so it must be better configuration. Thanks.

I agree, but disagree. Every other manufacturer out there is beefin it up as well. FWD is goin down and out quick. Sad to say, actually its not, but within the next few years, we are gonna see alot of crazy stuff. Technology is about to overcome the plateau its been on lately. Buckle up.

Yup I saw an awsome is300 once...I think the guy said 18 lbs of boost...massive internals somewhere around 500 hp...but i can't validate his claim.

But still the new ones are sick, I think there is also a supercharer out for them as well.

Why you ask?.. Reason.. the new altima is ugly as ***** and its still an altima.. You think a girl creams over your altima or your lexus.. The car looks better and has a better prestige associated w/ its name. If you have the cash to get an is300 and are dissapointed w/ HP numbers slap on that turbo kit and bamn..

FWIW, I think it was ImportTuner, that featured a 500hp and a 600HP! IS300... didn't say 0-60 times, but umm, the 600 was a daily driver too!

The IS300 doesn't seem like a real Lexus to me. More like a boy racer low budget Lexus. You want RWD? Wait 6 months for a G35 6spd.

I never said it looks bad, they look phat, I just said that the HP is dissapointing. And my point was that you can get more HP for less money, yeah the IS looks better than the Altima, but all the IS is gonna see is the Altimas tailights. I'd take a 2k2 Max over an IS.

Honestly guys..... an Is300 is an okay car. I would pick a 2002 Maxima over an Is300 anyday. The Maxima has more room and looks a lot better in my opinion. Is300 looks like a civic. You can get a civic for 15k and add 15k in mods and your car will be running in the 11s.
Rear wheel driver is pretty nice for the IS300 and the interior isn't bad. I think it looks pretty *cute*, but that's just it. It's just cute. I can't see myself driving that car. Maxima is so much more of a better car. I understand the is300 may have a performance edge over the Maxima with some mods, but I think the 2002 Maxima has some great potential.

I'm not saying the is300 is a bad car. It's a good looking car and the interior is very sweet. However a Maxima is a great car and a much better value. JUST MY OPINION.

The "extras" you get in design and features clearly make the IS300 a Lexus and not a Toyota. It definitely is competitive in price and performance with the base BMW 3 series. How you view the car depends on your leanings. Some people value handling more, some value HP. Even for the org, you will see people recommend handling mods first while others recommend I/Y/E. I think Lexus definitely got it right with the IS300. Definitely should have another engine option, I would agree though.

As for looks, to each his own. I think it easily looks better than Altima and a tad better overall than '02 Max. It is a totally different car than either though and until G35 comes along here soon, Nissan doesn't have peer. If any car lamentable, it is G20--low power 4 banger, relatively large price!

Yeah but what does it say on the glass? And I never directly compared the IS and the Altima, read my post I said "for example". All I did was convey the truth that the Alt is way faster for way less.

two days I ago I almost got caught by a turbo TOYOTA ECHO ....I saw him coming up on me fast, intake and exhaust howling, so I got ready to stomp the gas and smoke this guy, but as he passed me I heard "pssssssssssst..."(BOV) as he shifted and saw the "Boost Inside" sticker on the back of his car and I kindly removed my foot from the gas pedal and pretended I wasn't even considering racing him.... scary stuff.....a freaking turbo Echo...man they make turbo for anyhting now a days!
