I know some of you guys get more, (still don't understand how) but I just got 330 miles on 15.2 gallons of Premium Mobil gasoline at around 60% highway. This is 21.7 miles per gallon.. Pretty good compared to what my 3rd gen was getting (13 mpg). Amazing. I wonder if there will be any improvement after my 60k mile service is done.

Until a recent 2000 mile roadtrip I took in my Maxima, I never got over 24MPG. On the trip, 27.3MPG average....got like 435+ miles before even getting scared to fillup.

I get around 19-20MPG on combined city highway 50/50 normally.

You must have a lead foot like me. I drive my max like a bat out of hell and get about 22MPG. My record was 415 miles on one tank averaging 25.2 mpg.

I get close to 400 miles per tank. And that's with lots of hammer down and high-speed highway driving. And 115K miles on the ticker.

Actually, I didn't do much lead foot driving.. I was very nice to it, 60% highway driving, cruising around 60 mph. with the rest in typical NYC stop and go traffic. I need to change my plugs and fuel filter, 60k miles are around the corner... I want 400 miles per tank!!!

About 500

On returning to Georgia after a trip to Pennsylvania last summer, I got real close to 500 miles. I was at about 480 when I got to Fancy Gap in Virginia and decided to fill up because I was halfway betwen the last quater mark and empty. I was shocked. Of course, that was all highway miles, in a five speed, crusing at 85 with little brake hitting occurances. I was thrilled, to say the least.

32 mpg

I averaged 32 mpg one day this spring while driving from Seattle to SoCal, cruise control @ 80 mph the whole way. Filled up somewhere around 400 i think.

Yeah NyCe Maxima aint it nice I was like you with my 91 getting about 220 miles to a tank of gas and now I can hit about 330 miles at a quarter of a tank (which is usually when I fill up anyways).

Some of you get really good gas mileage... I feel like my mpg has decreased in this year. Do you think by changing the fuel filter will help improve gas mileage?

I haven't changed my fuel filter since I had the car. It's a '99 with 67,000 miles. I plan on doing a tune-up, fuel filter change next week. I hope this will improve my mpg. I've been good with changing oil and coolant. I just got my transmission flushed with synthetic yesterday.

Re: 350-400 mpg

It should help but my car only has 31858 miles on it at this very moment. I've changed the following at 25 k sparkplugs, fuel filter, airfilter (k&n dropin) changed battery optima redtop trannyflush mobil 1, prestone with watter wetter, all oil changes after breakin was either mobil1,redline or royalpurple with mobil1 filters every 3500 miles 90/10 city hwy. So I guess it must have done somethin?
Had around 4 passengers trunk packed it wouldnt even close and heavy aftermarket audio equipement. I was told time kills a car not miles

Sarah: Yeah it is nice I was getting 180-200 miles on a full tank in the 3rd gen.

JKiMaxAC: You really should do the fuel filter change, it's reccomended to change it at 60k miles. Plus change the spark plugs, inspect the belts, air filter. How much did the tranny flush cost you? I really want to get mine done, along with a coolant flush. And yes, Fuel filter does have an effect on gas milage, if it's bad gas milage will decrease.

This is "Maximum Pursuit", I'm at a friends house and accidently used his user id to reply.

I got my tranny flushed for $25 with a T-Tech Machine at Jiffy Lube located in Sears Auto Center in the Paramus Mall. You would have to ask for Calvin in order get that price. They normally charge $89-$99 for a tranny flush with their fluids.

I was having trouble finding a place that would allow me to bring my own tranny fluid but after several phone calls, I was in luck.

It ended up costing me $25 (flush) and $70 (14 qts of Mobile 1 ATF)a total of $95.

That's cool! Where is this mall located?
I'm sure there are Jiffy Lubes in my area (NYC) so I think I'll go there as well, most places do the drain and fill technique to flush the tranny, I couldn't really find place where they pump the fluid through as they did in your case....

I recently drove back from atlanta. I had 502 miles on the tank when I got off to fill up. I tipped of the gas tank at 17.4 gallons. I still had about another gallon of gas.

I love my Max.
