Can anyone recommend a quality, affordable double-din? I'm not really looking for dvd or monitor capabilities though.

There are alot Alpine makes a few and then there is Clarion Pioneer, Kenwood. If you are going double din it is gonna cost you regardless. Try going to Ebay or just search the web good luck...

I have the Kenwood DPX-400...good thing for me it has both tape and cassette. I still like it like that...and the display is very cool, programmable for stations and cd's.

I have seen it for $189 advertised. I paid $400 in spring of 2000...new model then.

Hey,

I know double-dinns are really nice (I had one myself) but they're very expensive. You should look into getting a high-quality singled-din HU, and a nice EQ below it. LOL, that's what I want to do but don't have the money

But I'll be glad if you find one for a decent price. Don't be in a rush when you're shopping for one. Good luck.

Yups, eclipse makes probably one of the best
Double DIN decks out there. It plays, CD's Tapes,
and has a screen on it so you can play DVD's.
If I remember right, it's pretty cheap on ebay considering
all the stuff you can have on it.

I was looking at the Alpine CD?-W550. The only thing is that it doesn't have a rotary dial. I don't know how good it is, but it looked cool. Bose is way too much work to rewire now, so I think I'll hold off. But if I were to change out the HU, what would I need? Just the Ohm reducer?

I could recommend Clarion ADX 5655Z, it has a nice display, wireless remote, and 45wx4 with 2 outputs. I bought mine in march and paid $320 to my door delivered...Go to yahoo shopping, type in the model you're looking for and it'll give you merchants that sell the item. This is a '00 model that was sold in '00 for $500, but you can find better deal like I did on the net. I considered JVC KWXC770 at $20 less, but Clarion has more functions, and like 8 various display modes. Wish I had a pic to show you, I like the way its in my Y2K Maxima GXE
