My Maxima is SO LOUD. . Roaring noise?

All:

My 1997 SE has gotten progressively LOUDER. It sounds like tire roar from the wheel wells, but I have swapped to quieter tires now, and it is STILL VERY loud. My wife drives the car now, and people who ride with her even make remarks about it.

I was driving it the other night, and there is just no way this can be normal. Something has to be wrong b/c I would not have bought this car years ago if it was this loud.

It's roaring all the way through the speed range. Around 50-60, it starts to get quieter, but then comes back hard at 65-70 on up. My brakes are relatively new, and are factory pads. My rotors were resurfaced during the brake job.

I have a BMW coupe now, and some on the BMW boards talk about control arm bushings going and the car making more noise. Could this be it?

My car has 85K miles on it. Has not had shocks or anything. The tires are Bridgestone RE750, and are 4000 miles old.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

B

The same thing happened to me and I had to replace the entire wheel hub assembly. It cost around $120 from the dealer. If you take it to a shop everything should run you a little under $200.

You will be so happy to get rid of that damn roaring, I just couldnt take it anymore.

Was that just for one wheel?

Do you think it's just one? It sounds so loud, I figured it was the entire front, and maybe rear too. . .

Thanks!

That was just for one, chances that more are out is slim. I think it is just one, but once it gets so bad it shakes the car BAD. You really need to focus and locate it.
