Intercooler as a intake question

I realize this may or may not have been covered before, so i apologize if it has. Im new to the turbo forum...
Might be a dumb question.

would it be allright to use an intercooler as a temporary intake. Im somewhat in the middle of a turbo project, still have a long way to go and still have a lot to learn. I have the same intake as this guy awsm66 pics and right where his filter is would be pretty close to about where my outlet for my intercooler would be. Obviously ill have nothing hooked to the inlet of the intercooler for now, but would it be ok to run the car with the intercooler as the intake filter or not a good idea? any input would be appreciated

It is okay, but not going to help. Its going to hurt the HP for awhile since its makes the intake tube very very long when not being pressurized.

I didn't know that a intercooler has the ability to filter air? I was under the impression that it cools the air... I could be mistaken???

The IC does not filter air. I think he meant can he use the IC connected with a filter on the end of the IC temporarily till he gets the rest of the stuff installed. I know a few people who have done this for a couple days.
