I am upgrading the speakers in my '97 Maxima. I have removed the back seats and popped up the deck. I can't seem to fully remove it because of the third brake light located against the back glass. How do I remove the brakelight to get the deck off!! Runn'in out of daylight!

hope this helps

Just dismantle it, some parts pop off and the others you will need a philips head. Use a flat head to pop off the plastic pannels on the light.

just twist the third brake light and it will come off. Its sounds hars but there are metal clips that are holding it in.

I hope this does not come too late. Combine the info given to you from the others and remove the plastic discs w/ a phillips. You'll only need to take it partially out. Then using a bit of force, pull on them with your fingers. You should either hear them pop(Ideal) or come out all the way. Twist clocwise with a pulling motion. Then disconnect the wiring harness. Check your bulbs too while you've got it out.

first, remove the rear plastic pillars that have seat belt holes in them. these are held in place by plastic clips, be careful these pillars are very brittle. then once the pillars are off, pry the rear deck lid off with a long thin screwdriver. there are 3 clips in the front that are visible, and two more in the center of rear deck. ohh, and take the third brake light off before step two. hope this helps
