I think my subs were wired wrong

I have 2 12' Shiva's and a JBL 1200.1 powering them. Now they can get loud at some times, but I'm not as happy with them as I thought I would be...... They were only 125 a peice so I could switch subs fairly easily if I'm not satisfied with them.

I'm thinking Sound Advice when they installed them didnt know they were 8ohm DVC and thus wired them wrong and they aren't getting the 600 watts a peice they should be getting

What the easiest way to check if they wired them right? Would i have to open the box up and check?

that would probaly be the best way. The voice coils need to be in parallel.

A good way of telling if speakers are phased correctly, is just get a small cell battery (like a C or D) and connect each lead from the speaker to the positive and negative side of the battery. Watch the movement of the speaker cone. If it moves "outward", then the polarity is correct. If it moves "inward", then the polarity is backwards.
