[*]Take off the license plate and put a solid foam barrier inbetween the plate and bumper. I used the plate to trace out a rectangle on a pice of thick black foam.[*]Next the lining on the trunk lid rattles like a big mug, so either rip it off or use a gallon of sound dampening. I personally just ripped the lining off and took out all the plastic tacks with some pliers, be careful not to break off the tips inside the trunk.[*]The spare tire also rattles. I took a piece of foam and lined the bottom of the tire well with it, and then placed another piece of cut to size foam on top of the tire before screwing it down. While doing this you may want to tighten down the jack to stop it from vibrating.[*]After that it gets expensive to dampen out every little noise. If you want try to find a good deal on dynamat or dampening foam then apply liberaly everywhere. There are show cars out there that have 300+ pounds of dampening material, but the first three steps should cut out most all noticable noises.
Good luck.

1999 maxima se

just finished putting my system in today. 2 pioneer 12"s and 1800watt amp.

i have dynamat completely covering the trunk lid

i've taken all the trunk release mechanisms out and rapped them in dynamat and put over whole area (poking holes for screws) (top/lip and bottom)

i stopped license plate rattle with just a little strip of it in the middle on the backside of the plate and screwed it on with 4 screws

things still rattling very bad are spoiler and something intensely freaking out underneath seeming to come from the driver side betw wheel well and bumper, i guess the only thing i can do to get rid of that is to dynamat the whole trunk floor including spare well which sucks because i don't have that much (alternative suggestion would be nice)

my spoiler is kinda loose on one side, i'm thinking maybe just tighten it down , but i don't know how you tighten a snap, do you just get new snaps and if so where?

something thats really been bothering me isn't rattle related at all, its the middle seatbelt, which is contained in a white box hanging down from the deckboard. if i could just shave this off an inch, it would let me push my enclosure back like 8 more inches giving me a lot more trunk space, any suggestions on best way to do this?

sorry for jackin the thread but it won't let me make a new one

first off..this is one oldass thread...

and two...you don't get a deeper richer bass by bridging an amp. bridging an amp simply combines the power of two channels to drive a single speaker.

The drivers side rattle from the rear wheel well is caused by the little rubber flap in the EVAP canister (little plastic box). I ripped out the rubber flap and the rattles stopped. Dunno if that was a bad move, but so far so good : )

I like this thread... offers some ideas other than the obvious "add sound-deadening material."

bridging the amp does give you more power...but people going for SQ like to have both left and right subs....so then bridging is a bad idea. all depends on if you're going for SPL or SQ
