Tranny slip
My 97 i30 is shifting into one and two but when it tries to go into 3 it redlines as if it’s in neutral. It started when i mashed it from 10 mph then i heard a loud thunk when shifting from 1-2, not 3-4. Not sure if i messed up the solenoids or 3rd gear lol. Any help would be appreciated .

No, I haven’t done any work to the trans, what i meant by that is idk if the loud thunk had to do with 3rd gear or a solenoid. Because the loud noise happened when going from 1-2, but after that it don’t go into 3-4. It also wont shift from 1-2 until it warms up (3-4 min of driving). It’ll just redline in first gear.

Automatic Transmission 2 to 3 Slip
I, too, began experiencing slipping (engine revs high) during 2 to 3 shifts. This happened on my '99 SE-L after the transmission was pulled to address an oil leak at the rear of the engine. My car has 245,000 miles on it now, and it has been meticulously maintained throughout my ownership. I thought that because of the high miles, the car could be due for a replacement transmission. However, knowing that my nephew's 1996 Maxima has 315,000 miles on its original engine and transmission with ZERO issues, I dove deeper. What I ultimately found, was the bushing at the shifter end of the shift cable, had worn out, disintegrated, and disappeared. When I thought I had the transmission in DRIVE, it was actually partially in NEUTRAL There is a company that makes a little kit (Google it, or buy via Ebay) for about $25. Not too bad a job, just tedious. In the meantime (to confirm), try shifting to 2nd initially, and then nudge the shifter back up to DRIVE. If shifting returns to normal, the missing/bad bushing is your issue. Hope this helps!
