your not the only one. Supposedly though the new 370Z headlights will have that kind of look as well.
Nissan can never seem to get a front end or rear end right. 4DSC was definitely a big marketing hype.

ehhh, im just really not impressed....its 2009 and the car looks like its a 2003...I dont know how nissan plans to keep up with everyone. I like the car it just doesnt do much for me....I hope the specs are something to talk about because otherwise im really unimpressed.

It looks really aggressive up front to me.. like it was tired of being picked on and called a boat. LOL
but it looks like a 4 door sports car. really it does to me. really aggressive lines.
i dunno about the center console tho.. thats too far to reach imo for that while driving.

Anyone notice the redline in this pic:
http://jalopnik.com/photogallery/200...thumb1280x1280
Is it 6600? Does this give us any clues to the engine type (VQ37HR?)? What about the shifter? Interesting that they don't show a manual. Does this look like the CVT interface without the gear selection, or a traditional automatic?
I guess we'll know tomorrow...

co-sign. Gone is the egg/boat shape ya'll used to clown us about(maybe not you but alot of the other gens). I love this car's looks(specs tba). Give me the right specs and I'm tradin'.

I like the exterior. The interior - well not really my cup of tea. Looks like it would be awkward to reach the navi controls and I hate the woodgrain interior (thats a personal thing obviously).

Overall, this is definitely the most favorable initial reaction I have ever had to a new Maxima design. Interior looks great - hope there is a wood-less version (though the wood here is reasonably tasteful). Very nice! Manual shifter gate is FINALLY towards the driver instead of away... HOORAY! (though with paddle shifters, who cares, lol)
EDIT - After seeing additional interior photos, the tacked-on ovoid air vents on the ends of the dash don't really sit right with me.
Overall the exterior is very nice also! Love the front air damn and how the scoops and fogs are integrated into it. LED tails (but wish they were solid red instead of having reverse lamps integrated). Side lamps in mirrors!
Keeping in mind that I actually like it (a lot!), I do have to nit-pick a bit:
As far as the "Camry" comments... this sculpted styling idiom is just a fact of life in the auto world since Chris Bangle unleashed his ugly BMW's - the whole world has unfortunately followed in his footsteps. This is one of the better Bangle-esque designs I have seen, however.
Hope this is an SL equivalent and there is a woodless/chromeless SE version with nicer wheels. Needs a decent suspension for me to consider for Max #8, but everything else looks pretty damn nice.
Should be a hit with general public.

- Do not care for chrome over license plate - reminiscent of the G35 chrome lip (also fugly) or even recent Lincolns.
- The front grill's shape seems just a bit off... like the side edges need to angled a bit instead of so straight up/down. Hopefully just from the angle of the pics and better in person.
- Foot operated parking brake - how un-4DSC! Ugh! Probably a good indicator that the MT is gone for good.
- Chrome door handles -Yuch. Hope SE (if there is one) has body colored handles.
- Don't care for the wheels pictured - better than current SL wheels, but not great.

Wow, thanks for the pictures guys because I was going crazy trying to find any info or pictures on the car before I go to the auto show on saturday or sunday.
I really like the look of the car, the front is just amazing and very aggresive looking. The back of the car looks like it lost a lot of that extra fat and has some nice lines. I hope to post up some pictures this weekend or monday after I get to the auto show.

The dash design with all the controls doesn't seem very sophisticated to me. But thats just my opinion. Even the interior of the 2007-08 Maxima w/o navi seemed more sophisticated to me.
From the front, it seems to have taken some cues from the Infiniti M. I am referring to the shape of the hoods.
1. Both the hoods are flat, unlike the 04-08 Max.
2. Towards the sides, the body goes up in a ridge-like shape which is typical of the Infiniti M. I really like that.
3. The front grill bears some resemblance to that of M but looks almost exactly like the JDM Stagea. The grill seems to have been designed by a kid.
From the rear, it looks a lot like the new Altima with different tail lights.
Sorry, not very impressed overall by the looks
PS: Couldn't get to post the comparison pictures but here they are http://forums2.freshalloy.com/showthread.php?t=181090 post #11

I kind of need to let it sink in as well. I like the fact that the rear seems less bulbous than the 6th Gen. The headlights are nice except for the tab sticking out on the sides. Front grill is neutral, not offensive like the stock 6th Gen. A nice mesh upper and lower grill would do wonders. I like the tail lights, even though they are very Camry-esque. The chrome license plate thing has to go. Painting it body color would solve that problem. I think a nice set of rims, a mild body kit, mesh grills and a slightly more aggressive rear spoiler would make it look really nice. It has potential for sure.

Foot e brake? Is that a joke??????
It looks pretty good, I wish it had retained more of the aggressive look on the front end as seen in the 5th gens.
If we get good specs it'll be an amazing car. If it ends up weighing a lot though with the same damn vq35 then it'll be a fail.

I'm not feeling it. Even with the peer pressure of almost everyone here praising it. It looks too much family like, like a Toyota. *Sigh* I hope the performance specs are impressive, but right now, 6th and 5th gen >>7th gen

It's going to have to sink in with me as well. But, my first reaction is pretty good. My biggest disappointment with Nissan is why they make the Infinitis look so much like the the Nissan's?!?! The interior is almost an exact copy of the G35/G37's new design.

Looks really good overall. Much sportier than the 6th gens. The front end could almost pass as a G.
My only questions:
1) What do you guys think about the headlights? Specifically that little part on the bottom that sticks out past the rest of the headlight. Looks out of place.
2) How long do your arms need to be to comfortably reach those nav controls?
