EBAY Turbo kit for 780? nearly complete? hmmm....

i've seen this turbo kit snoopin around on ebay lately..and it makes me wonder if this kit is for real. Anybody know anything about it?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/90-06...spagenameZWD1V
I'm wondering if this kit is for real or if it's just a fake that would require alot of mods or something. thoughts?

Did you even read the discription? It comes with nothing! Turbo, intercooler, and some cut to fit piping. No Y pipe, no up pipe, no down pipe, no FMU, no injectors, NUTIN! This is not a kit, just some crap you can use to custom build a kit. Henc ethe reason it fits all maximas from 1990 to 2006. If you buy it, get creative.

No name turbo= garbage. Turbo is the heart, if your heart fails you're dead. Kit might be okay with a diffrent turbo but you still have to be creative as has been said with the other parts. I learned buy it named and new or buy it twice.

I currently have that kit on my 97 se . Its not all that bad. Some things are kinda cheesy but overall its not all that bad.

Now you will need a flange, y pipe and downpipe. You may want to get a different bov . I think that was the only thing i didnt use out of the kit.

really that kit should be fine... prob is you need to get a non-generic turbo.

the datsun guys LOVE Holset turbos... or precision makes really good turbos (or just a genuine garrett t3/t04e)

Yes if you get it please dont think that the turbo is really going to last. I got mine to just get boosted but i plan to change to a holset hy35 maybe the hx35 but deff changing turbo.

There is no turbo manifold with that kit. It does come with alot of stuff but no manifold down pipe or up pipe. Also i am going with the hy35 since it has a smaller exhuast housing. The same compressor as the hx35 just smaller exhuast side. I dont want a late spooler.

since you're going to throw the turbo away, you're now buying a random ebay intercooler and collection of pipes for $750...
don't waste your time.

You usually tap the upper oil pan. I did mine a couple weeks ago, wasn't as bad as I thought. The kit doesn't look bad because it has alittle bit of odds and ends instead of shopping around a bunch of different places for stuff, and if you can resell the turbo it looks like an okay kit. Most of the kits on ebay have the basic hardware, its just the big time parts like the turbo that would be garbage. Garbage in the sense you may get away with it not blowing up if you baby it but if you really run it it won't last. Just about everone that blows up an engine go gets a 3.5 so it might be a good thing.

Aren't these blowers the same things as the SSautochrome ones?

btw, thanks to maxgtr2000 for convincing me to buy a real Garrett.

well i'm not lookin to buy this kit for a 3.0 anyway i will hopefully get a 3.5 soon and i know this kit had the piping and oil lines and stuff but i was looking for all that i wanna run a fairly large turbo..something for highway late spool type junk but has anybody heard anything on obx turbos? i found this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWA:IT&ih=016 i mean all in all if the turbo was the only thing i was upgrading that kit still comes out to about 1300 which isn't that bad

No the ssautochrome use the OBX glued turbos. This turbo that comes with the kit is not glued . Like i have said this is not a bad get to get you going but by all means is this meant to be a all out beast kit.

I'll take your word for it. Lol, seems like all OBX is good for is exhaust components.

....good luck pushing that turbine.

Every ricer dreams of that turbocharger. Except my friend is on his second GT35R, haha he blew up the compressor wheel on his first one. He's installing GT35R #2.

You really get what you pay for.

7 PSI on the turbo that comes with the kit, or a GT35R. If you're referring to the kit turbo, then what you said really means nothing in comparison to a GT35R.

Also, why does the GT35R have to be the "ricer" turbo and why would he need "good luck pushing the turbine"? I'm assuming you meant because you think it's large, which isn't the case (you can get them as small as a 0.63 A/R turbine on the GT3582R).

i thought the same..i thought it was a pretty good turbo from my understanding i didn't think it was too large. If Evo's an subies can push it with their engines why not a 3.5?

is this what they use factory? if so, maybe the ebay kit would work w/ a gently used gt35r, no?

alright kzoosho you have inspired me to turbo my 5th gen de-k. I'm not looking to boost 20 psi or anything like that so i'm more than sure that the no name brand turbo t04e will do what im planning on doing with it, which is pushing 7-8 psi. After looking at the turbo kit one ebay, I took a lot of factors into consideration. The kit on ebay is 865 which shipping. In my personal opinion I would rather piece it together and get components that I would prefer.

Before I continue, kzoosho can you post a picture of where you have the wastegate mounted thank you.

t04e turbo $172
oil feed and oil return about $125
hks ssqv $189
bov flange $10
tial 38mm wastegate $189
intercooler $89
piping clamps coupler about $200

so it will cost me about $974 to piece it together with the components that I want ( i.e hks bov and tial wastegate)

other parts that I would need include :

sandwich plate $38
extra flanges and what not that im going to need $200
all exhaust piping im going to guess about $300

so for about 1500 I should be able to do it

You forgot all the fuel parts. If you has boost you must has fuel to go with it.

Two popular set ups:

High flow fuel pump $150
FMU $200
SAFC $300
$650

High floe fuel pump $150
570 injectors $300
E- manage $500
$950

go ahead and prepare for new tires, traction bars, decent suspension, worn wheel bearings.
