last night I pulled in my driveway.......as I shutoff the radio I notice that the car is idling at 2,000 rpm!!! Throttle cable was not sticking or anything....any ideas? will see what happens today but what could cause this?

If you manually open your throttle a little bit, do the rpms go down?

I opened the hood while it was idling high.....I pulled the throttle cable in the engine bay but it went back down to 2,000.....no lower...if that is what you mean?

probably your IACV. reset the idle by switching off you ECM and adjusting idle. If that does not work. remove the motor part of the iacv (3 screws), remove the chock that stops the valve from rotating and then rotate the valve out a few turns and reinstall.

my guess would be IACV or coolant temp sensor problem. I had something similar happen to mine, except idle was surging, too.

No, but its really easy, all you need is a philipps head screwdriver and a pair of pliers to get the bypass hose out of the way. Ask mygreenmax for a pic of the valve itself.

next time that happens take a pair of pliers and pinch the IACV hose...it's a rubber hose that goes into the intake. if you notice the idle going back down to normal you know that's your problem.

The IACV controls idle by letting a small amount of air past the throttle plate. If you have a small crack or leak in the IACV hose to the throttle plate you could see an increase in the idle.

you guys are awesome....you are 3 for 3 with issues on my max......on looked at the IACV hose and what do ya know....it has a crack in it.......will replace it tomorrow and the idle should be back to normal.......

My 3rd gen has been idling in the 1500-2000 range for some time. I did this pinch test on the IACV hose and indeed my idle went way down, to the point of just barely running. My question is if everything is working properly and one does this pinch test, what is the result?

oh beautiful....this made my life easier....one of the guys at work flushed my vg with a garden hose to get my heat working better and had the intake off.....idiot left that IACV hose off a little and the clamp wasnt even on it.....idle went down form 2000 back to normal....oh thank you!
