Tranny w/ Auto Cooler Only
Today was a long day for me. I finally got a chance to replace my A/C Condenser, flush the radiator fluid, replace lower & upper radiator hoses, as well as the thermostat. But, during my install I always encounter rust and old hoses are a pain to take off. So, I'm trying to take of the inlet hose into the radiator for the tranny and the damn thing broke on me.
Now I'm by passing the radiator with just the aftermarket tranny cooler. Is this a good idea? How long can I do this? And if I can keep it like this, is it safe to run this setup for next winter?
I also found some yellow sediment in my coolant system. Seems like rust deposits. I'm assuming this is bad but I would like another persons opinion. This is my second coolant flush. 2 year difference. Using Toyota Red w/ distilled water. Last time i ran a bottle of water wet, I don't know if this was bad.

I wouldn't think that using just the cooler will be good for your car in the summer heat. Otherwise, I'm not sure about the yellow sediment. I think of it as the same as you. Can't be too good. Hopefully some good insight will come in.

You can, get a cooler like the one I bought though. I bought a FORD RACING cooler and it bypasses the cooler when the fluid is still cold.
Although I still have my Hayden installed, I was going to install the FORDRACING one until I decided to go manual...

That is the one I have.

If you had a pair of gloves that could handle 230 degrees and you had to pick up a steel rod that was 340 degrees. You only have 5 minutes to pick it up. Would you rather pick it up after it was soaked in water that was at a temp of 200 degrees of sitting in air at a temperature of 85 degrees for five minutes? Think of stop and go city driving. Trans fluid can get extremely hot, if you are going to by-pass the rad then I would suggest a big cooled but remember that if you put it in front of your A/C condenser it won't cool as well as it did before.

I have the aftermarket cooler already. I have the B&M Co 70255 Supercooler Oil Cooler. My thing is can I drive like this for two months as a daily driver with out worrying of any problems until I can get a new radiator.
