Hks Vs. Pacesetter Exhaust Perfromance/sound

possibly many are asking this question.

HKS Axle back/muffler

vs.

the pacesetter catback system

with Hks you get the muffler, but do you also get the piping leading to it?

and with the pacesetter, how efficient is it. i know you get what you pay for, but is it even worth the 230 bucks.

i need a quick replacement so it's either or. please help.

I have heard the PS with a stock y pipe, and it wasnt that bad. Fittment is OK. The tip sticks out like crazy and looks horrible, not to mention the bright yellow inside some tips.... I had a PS header on my B13 and no matter what I painted it with it rusted, the cat back will do the same. That and the quality is **** poor. Poowill has a PS cat back, get some feed back from him.

The HKS is and axle back only. There have be reports of slower 1/4 mile times with it. Personally its not worth the money. But it will last a hell of a lot longer than the PS. Id go with a Cattman axle back at this price.

If money is a concern go with the OBX Greddy EVO copy catback. There is one on ebay for less than $300. Other wise get a name brand muffler and have it welded up to fit like an axle back.

my muffler just broke off, so i figured i get an exle back system, but the pacesetter was a full cat back system for an awesome price.

i may get the cattman axleback system tho.

The cattman puts out a great sound and the axle back itself isn't too loud.

My car came with the PS cat back. I thought it sounded quiet, pretty much stock if you ask me. With a Y-pipe it is a lot louder but has a pretty nice sound. It hasn't rusted much yet, but it's only been through one winter. The tip does stick out but there is enough pipe on the muffler that if you cut off you could put on another tip. They sell stock ones on ebay i'm pretty sure, I just haven't bothered.

I got the PS over two years ago and almost from day 1 it started to rust. Everytime I change the oil I give it a good inspection and grease up any of the rusty connections. The inside of the tip by far is the worse - all of the resonators have rusted. The tip does stick out a bit, and the yellow...what where they thinking. Nothing that black paint didn't fix. But...for the price it's not that bad so long as you live in a decent area and are tight on $. The PS will not last anywhere where the winters are harsh.
