VQ35 3rd Gen?

Has anyone ever done a VQ35 + Tranny Swap into a 3rd gen? Is it even possible without an extreme amount of engine compartment changing? I think it would be very interesting to see.

1 person, starchild (i think). The car was for sale. The onbly problem was there was no evidence on how he did the swap and people were led to believe a shop did it.

Wasn't that a DE-K swap?

To the OP, if the DE-K fits, so will a VQ35.

Anyone know if the VQ40 from a new Pathfinder is Longitudinal or Transverse? I think it's longitudinally mounted, so moot point, but if it's not it would be one impressive project. Similar hp to the VQ35, but 4.0L just sounds so much bigger...

Far as i know only the altima, and maxima are transverse mount (VQ from factory) But you would have to mod just about everything anyways, might as well make it work if it will bolt up to a FWD VQ tranny that is.

the VQ40 has a taller deck for the bigger displacement, have fun fitting that in.

The VQ30/35 swap is quite possible and would be very fun....

I've not read of any varible timing assembly problems. Different mechnicals. ie.. we haven't heard of any maxima VTCs going and many have close to 100k now.

Why not go all out with a VH45 swap? Wouldn't a V8 in a Maxima be outrageous?

I am definitely going to do a vq35 swap here in a few months....hopefully, if I make enough money with my new job I will build the crap out of the motor for N/A. Can you say 11.5 to 1 vq43 with cosworth heads, JWT cams, and a Z IM...call me crazy but we'll see what happens in about 6-8 months

I'm completely fed up with my VE right now and I just love my car too much to let it go to waste...

Wow, can't wait to see that. What's up with the VE? I'm almost kind of glad I have a VG rather than a VE as far as reliability ratings and such. Is the extra power really worth that much? I'm thinking a VG-5 swap would be really badass...

We'll I think it's all relative at *cough* 160hp, at least you wont have to deal with torque steer.

The VG is a good platform for a turbo upgrade however. Either way a 5spd is a lot of fun.

Hah, I'm just looking for something I won't need to fix in the near future (Such as VTC's) And the VG Automatic is crap, so I figure a good built engine along with a 5 speed sounds pretty good. With an entry level job and not a lot of hours, just looking for something dependable but still fun.

And no, not getting anything by Honda

If you already have a 5-speed in your 3rd gen you can simply swap the bellhousing for a VQ bellhousing, and keep your axles. 3rd, 4th and 5th gen manuals use the RSF50 trans/internals. You just need a VQ bellhousing.

They share *cough* almost identical torque ratings. That is unless the VTC's are crap then the VG's win. So tq steer will still be there. sorry
