Its all fixed now it looks and runs great like any other maxima! I personally inspected it along with 2 other trusted mechanics. We all approved of it
As for the blue control arms both of them are blue... the paint is actually very old and starting to fall off. The control arm is in great condition it is not bent or anything of those means. The car has already had 2 shop visits for minor repairs. All is good with the max.

Welcome to Maxima.org! Nice find, let the modding begin. Also I see your in Denver, that's good, we could use more Maximas around here. Make sure to go in the Regional Forum (West Coast) often, we are planning some meets here pretty soon. Good Luck

the answer to the shifter being vinyl... you clearly have aftermarket leather seats... because your seats were originally cloth, you shifter looks like that.
how do i know this you ask?
My 99-SEL had cloth. i bought it used from a nissan dealer 3 years ago, I had them put aftermarket leather in... my shifter looks the same. additionally, your seat has SE imprinted... nissan did not do that in 99
---hope i helped

i'm pretty sure that's a genuine se-l but i'm no expert.
also the se-l got the skyline steering wheel that year, it might sound hard to beleive but i checked out some 98-99' skylines and there it was, one of the best damn steering wheels ever. congrats btw, crazy low miles.

I’d double check that car.. i have a few maximas in the family.
The '99 SE limited has titanium colored metallic gauges not white. Could have been a gauge swap to show lower miles.
Also you have a leather seat swap, the Head unit it definitely from a ’99. I think you have a 99SEL that had the security and convenience package and someone added the rest, but missed a few things.

the seats are not aftermarket. the 99 se's dont have a leather wrapped shifter regardless if the car came from the factory with or without leather. the 99 gle's do have a leather wrapped shifter. everything seems to be the same as my 99 se-l, besides the obvious like the grill and the blue painted stuff.

all right one of you guys help me out here, my car is allegedly a 99 se-l
crimson blaze in color with black vinyl shifter, tan leather interior, se logos on seats, and white gauges (auto tranny) it was purchased used from the same stealership that it was originally ordered from and meticulously documented, as in all options are listed on original invoice and do not differ from what's in the car, also it has the se-limited badged floormats.
what's the story with my car,? i never imagined it could be a f%$#ing
cubic zirconia, someone please give me the straight $hit about my car.
any questions that may help solve the mystery will be promptly answered,
thanks in advance.

if your car is crimson blaze, i would try to find out if that is the original color. maybe pull a door panel and look for overspray on the iinside of the door. maybe even under the hood. if your car is truely crimson blaze, then your car will truely be a 99SEL, being that they only made 99SEL's in that color. i do not know about the seats for sure, being my seats are aftermarket.
ALSO...
do a carfax. (this isnt fool proof, but a good indicator) if yoru car was bought in LATE 99 for the first time... (mine was purchased by the original owner in NOV 1999) then there is a good chance its an SEL. SEL's are 99.5's and therefore wouldnt have been sold in say late 98 to early 99.

see:
I dont think there "titanium" gauges ive never even heard of them..
"skyline" steering wheel
also those going for the odomter swap theroy most the parts in the car have little wear, ie balljoints, under the car is in almost mint condition except the muffler.
There is no way this was a GXE or a sel IF it infact is not a true SEL (i still am almost postivie its a genuine sel) then it is indeed a se... IT even says its a SE on the metal badging on the front of the car.
Think about it the car has
-body color rear maxima badging
-se wheels
-se gauges
-sel badging
-foglights
-rear spoiler
-SE badged seats
-stiffer feeling suspention than my previous max.
-has the slimmer steering wheel
-entire car seating in same black leather.
-entire car floor is charcoal
-top part of the car is charcoal
-sunfoor slider...you guessed it charcoal...
-left the manufacturing plant on 04/05/1999

okay, very helpful stuff, paint in door sills and under hood and all other obscure non-exterior paint areas are totally kosher, crimson blaze all the way
and the car did leave the factory in april 99, i knew it was'nt a fugazi.
and on a more trivial note, my paint is wicked, just thought i'd give myself alittle h.j. amidst all this academia.

That looks like a SE-L imho.
1) titanium tint (slightly whitish silver) SE dash gauges (can't really tell from your pics)
2) SE-L leather option had SE embossed on the front seats, and was perforated
3) yours has electronic climate control so was an leather equipped car
4) you could check the VIN to verify that it had sideairbags, which is a different code than just frontairbags
5) titanium painted wheels
6) titanium tint MAXIMA script on the back, and I think Nissan symbol on the grill
7) SE-L badges
8) se-l floormats
