Just want some feedback
I'm a noob on this site and do have a 99 Maxima SE(5-speed). I also have a 98 Acura Integra GSR. I've never had any problems with my Integra in over a year that I have owned it and its probably the most realiable car that I have ever owned. Either way I bought the Maxima because of the room that It has(I have a daughter) and I've always wanted to own one and was thinking of selling the Integra since I dont need two cars. Now the question is are they really reliable cars if driven normal(no racing)??? I bought it with engine code on(which checked it out and its fuel injector 1 is no good) and also everytime I press the clutch for some reason I hear a noise(you can hear it from the outside as well) but it does shift normal and smooth so dont have a clue on what it could be. Any ideas on what it could be??? I havent really driven the car since Im about to replace the injector #1 this weekend but just wanted to get some feedback on reliability of Maximas. Thanks guys

The Maxima is a reliable car. Some seem to have problems with the 99's however. (cali-spec) Some emmission control device issues. The noise is probably the throw-out bearing for the clutch starting to go bad.

All that needs to be said about the reliability of a 4th gen Maxima is this: Love it and it will love you back for many, many thousands of miles. If you drive your car normally, pay attention to it, and keep up with the regular maintenance, it'll be just as solid as your Integra.
for the noise being the throwout bearing. Replacing it will require removal of the transmission, and that can be a few hundred bucks' worth of labor (depending on the shop). IMO your best option is to bear with it until you feel like shelling out for a new clutch and pressure plate (and possibly flywheel) as well, since those items require exactly the same labor. Might as well pay once for the labor and get it all done at once.
If you do go that route, get the 5th gen (2000-2001) clutch disc and pressure plate. Don't ask questions.

So when I call to get a new clutch do I just ask for the year 2000-2001 instead of the 99'?
Is the throw out bearing from a 2000 the same as a 99'???
