I finally did something with that dud panel to the right of the steering wheel...

I bought an additional security light from someone who was parting out their car and I installed it in the dud panel location (since I don't have traction control ). I thought this was a good idea because 1.) I hate dud panels (they represent an option you don't have) and 2.) I always thought the security light should be able to be seen from the right side of the steering wheel as well as the left, especially since the stereo is there. So, since The Wizard and I had to take the whole instrument cluster out to tap into the speed sensor wire while installing this:
Kenwood 8017 DVD/Nav.
...we took the opportunity to tap into the existing security light's wires and wire up/install the secondary security light. What do you guys think? Here are the pics:

The 'money shot', both lights blinking (took about 20 attempts):

So what have you guys done with your dud panel?

Nice, I always wanted to stick something there. I think I'll install a switch there that will deploy stinger missles from the sides of my car, or one of those cool oil slick things that james bond pulls on the bad guys I really don't know what to stick there man. I don't have many toys on this thing yet.

I put my nitrous-purge pushbutton there (black) and the blanket heater LED (red) , so when the blanket heater and pressure regulator is ON, the LED is lit up.

That's the only visible sign of my NX nitrous installation in the cabin - except for the floor switch for the second-stage of nitrous.....

not a bad idea with the security lights...makes it more visible. i have an aftermarket alarm but relocated the blinking light myself and put it in between the defrost vents under the windshield so it can seen more easily and obviously.

as far as the 'dud panels', i have an i30 power gas popper button on the left side and i installed a push button for the power trunk popper because my gxe didn't have it on the door...i'm very happy with my setup. i'll get some pics up soon because my cardomain is all old stuff before i installed the i30 interior.

do they not blink simultaneously otherwise? I would think that if they were wired together, they would blink together. If they blinked off of eachother, I think it would look kinda

Gas opener switch is in the maximas dud pos. This is the way it was in our old 97 I30. I always thought it was stupid because if you got out and forgot to press it, you would have to get back in or reach over to hit the switch.
