Currently i am running 235/50/17 tires on 8 x 17 Nissan Z wheels on the rear. Currently the rear tires are rubbing (somewhere - no signs of rubbing on the fender) when there 1 or 2 people on the back seat and i do over bumps/dips. On even roads they do NOT rub when car is loaded.

Thanks to irish and some of the other nice people here now i know that this is because my tires should be 235/45/17 and the the reason for the rubbing is the "50" on my current tires. They seem to be too tall. (it's visible)

Now, here is my question.... since my car is NOT lowered and i hate, really HATE the wheel-fender gap, i am afraid that if i put 235/45/17 on the rear the gap will be even more visible. This size tire has smaller diameter than stock tires.
However, the tire calculator shows me that if i put 245/45/17 tires then i will be very very close to the stock diameter ( a little bit less). I am willing to do it, BUT .... 245 will be a wider tire than 235. With the 33 offset, would this bring the fender rubbing problem again???
Anyone here running the same tire size with the same wheel offset?
Probably not....but i had to try. I am about to buy tires and i want to get the best size without making my car ugly.

235/45/17 w/ 33mm offset should be fine. People run 245 or 255/40/18 w/ 35mm offset w/out any issues. You should ok.

Put a 245/45/17 on 17 x 8 wheels if your at the stock ride height. It's only 5mm taller but trust me will help with the gap issue.

If you have an auto trans you can cut the front gap slightly by using stock 5 speed springs on your front struts. They make the front and rear fender gaps exactly the same which actually gives the car a nice look even with low profile tires! I've been riding on this set up for a month now and I love it. My next set of tires for my rims will be 245/45 which should look awsome on the car.
