I'm looking into getting the Carchip EX datalogger/scan tool. Anybody have experience with it? I'm curious how good it is at datalogging. Their web site isn't too detail oriented, like what's the sample rate? They mention vehicle speed recorded every 5 seconds...are all parameters read at 5 sec intervals? Is it worth it or should I look into another OBD scanner/logger? I want to do some basic engine performance monitoring/diagnostics.

I've got one and I think it's good. It will record speed and five other parameters every five seconds. The list of parameters should be on the web site. I 've got it set to record every five seconds and I can go a little over a month before I have to download. It's nice cause I have a log of how my car is performing as well as how far i go. If I ever need to find out how long that trip was on a certain day iI can just look it up on my computer. Plus It's nice not to have to drive to autozone when my ses light goes off.

My main concern is that it only logs data every 5 seconds. Can it be set to log faster than that or is it a limitation of the OBD port? 5 seconds just seems like a long time between data points. I'd rather not have to drive around with a laptop and invest in all sorts of other expensive equipment to get a continuous data stream.
