It's not a bad mod. It depends on whether you want to have it that way or not. I did it to my 98 max last weekend. It's fairly easy as stated. I bought 2 bolts & some hinges from Home Depot. Patience is the key. Just have to line everything up so that the trunk can open and close without difficulty.

flip flop like suicide doors like it opens from near the rear window??????????
If thats the case uh..... well IMO that woul be but hey it is your max and good luck with it. heave is the only think that i can see that would haper your efforts so while you are at it why dont you look for a CF deck lid oh and have fun finding that but then you would have to get the hood to match.

I just love how he asks "how to" and yet everyone post their opinion, you guys are not paying for his car or driving it so
I have it and when I go to meets everyone likes it, but more importantly I like it! And I have a system in the trunk and it doesn't rattle.
BTW, here is the link to do it, from VQPower: http://www.vqpower.com/v2/modules.ph...showpage&pid=7

it rattled on my 5.5 and my integra, maybe you found better hinges than i did or something. The other problem i had is that the back of the trunk, by the glass, sat a couple of centimeters higher than it did stock. Now i think the mod is great if you show your car, but for a car i drive every day, its not worth the hastle. I worry that through my own neglegence(spelling?) i would some how damage my trunk.

This is my daily driver and I live in NYC so imagine my pain , my trunk sits on the rubber on top of the trunk opening so I have no problem when I flip...
Sammy, man you've been MIA had the CT meet you didn't show wtf!!! lol

ahhh this is where i step in my trunk sits completely flush when closed, chino actually inspired me to do this mod since it looks sick, IMO:
thats me, and thats chino to my left with trunk closed flush...get 3 inch strap hinges instead of 2 inch...
my trunk doesnt rattle at all by the way...but then again ive got a lot of dynomat in that *****....and trunk wit spoiler is better to flip flop, i use the spoiler to flip the trunk back into flip flop position....all these horrible assumptions from ppl that didnt do the mod....
damn shame....

i sell flip flop kits for $20 shipped...kit includes detailed instructions (for a 5th gen, but i'm sure it wouldn't be much different for any other gen) plus all the hardware you need. you can see pics of my kit on my car (http://www.cardomain.com/id/03on18s). pm me if you're interested.

BTW: how long does it take to do the flip-flop? Looks interesting.

gbauer - it took me and a friend about 30 mins to install the kit.....another kid with a 5th gen that i sold the kit to did it by himself and it took him about 45 mins. not too many tools required, not a big deal to do. thanks for the compliments on my car. i was thinking about painting my engine bay, but now i'm thinking about switching to a more black/chrome look. we'll see what happens though.
kash - i use two locks in my kit. that way the trunk lid remains stock until you undo the two locks. so for loading/unloading purposes, the trunk is stock. then when i'm at a show, it flops down.

u put latches so ure trunk is stock.... it opens and closes stock like 03on18s said, u just flip it when ure at a meet or showing off, its just an OPTION, my trunk and ure trunk open and close the same way, we have the same trunk....only difference is, i slide two bolt locks over and it flips down....and maybe u havent seen one in person, but it actually doesnt lookas bad as u probably think it does, stop knockin it til youve seen it in person...i didnt like it til i saw it at a meet myself...i respect ure opinon on u not thinking it looks good....ON THE OTHER HAND anyone that asks "whats the point" to any mod is just a ****** so u lost my respect right there....
