Is my Maxima worth hooking up?

Is my Maxima worth hooking up?
I've had my Maxima for about a month now, and I really want to start to hook it up with performance and visual upgrades. The only thing is it has 114,444 miles. I just got my car and it's running well, it is a 99. Thanks a lot for your opinions.

Well ask yourself a couple questions? How long to you plan on keeping this car? Is it well taken care of to begin with and will you take good care of the car. 100,000 miles is no biggie for a Maxima as long as it is well be taken care of. I started modding my Max at 86,xxx miles while my friend with a 99 started at 100,xxx. I wish you luck and I say you do it. If you take care of the Max the Max will take care of you.
By the way welcome to the board.

Thanks for the welcome, I don't know how well the previous owners took care of the car, I would like to hold on to my car for at least two years. I had it checked out from top to bottom before I baught it and the mechanic said it was fine. it needs some work on it's rear quarter panel and that's about it.

there have been members on the org that started modding with higher miles and older cars than you have. It all depends on how long you plan to keep it. Modding is more like a hobby...a damn expensive hobbby

thats the same question i ask my self everyday, ask ur self this... do u like the color?do u like the transmission auto/5spd? other than that its a 99 mines is 97 with 139k and it runs better than some maxes with 80k its not the milage that matters its the use that was given to it? mines was owned by a lady, it need a tune up but im sure the miles are highway the title said 50 miles so that means she bought it with 50 miles, well the point is mines is auto and beige 2 things i dont like other than that i like it...

I have an automatic and I heard on her that two of the first things that I should do is get a y pipe and an intake, I was thinking about 245/18 tires and I was wondering how black/grey rims would look on a white Maxima. I have a black dash with tan leather seats. I really like the black dash. I already installed and alpine head unit that adds about 50 watts to the sound system, but before I do anything else I would like to improve the performance. I have an auto, so I know I have a definite ceiling on how much I can do. Other than that I don't really know much, I never realized how fast a Maxima was, stock but I want more.

I have a '99 as well.
I bought front clear bumpers, red/clear tails, front strut bar, and a indash tv with a dvd player.. and i'm done..
I was planning on spending more $$$ to hook the **** out of the max but then I realized that when I get rid of it in 3-5 years, I'll end up going through the hassle of trying to sell it and uninstalling it.. just like the way it was with my previous car, mitcu eclipse gsx. I spent more than $5k on mods for the eclipse and when it was time to move on to the max, I had learned my lesson not to spend too much $$ on a car unless I'm planning on keeping for a REALLY long time.
Just remember that when it comes to luxury cars,
"It's all about stock options"... except for tv..

Intake and Y pipe are good for performance. ($300)
DC clear bumper lights. ($50)
Save the rest of your money and get something nicer and faster.
Welcome to the org.

Milage isn't usally an issue since you can replace/rebuild the engine and trans easy enough. Age might be more of an issue with rust, dents, bushings, etc. '99 isn't a biggie.
I'd be more concerned about frame/tub rigidity and overall togetherness of anything over 7-8 yrs when pushed hard.

One thing you should remember is the motors in our car are very good and can last you to 250,000+ miles if it is taken car of properly. I know my car has 113k (its a 97) and its still running strong. I have a good bit of plans still. Mine is also an auto like yours and will hopefully be getting swaped to a 5-speed in the summer since my tranny isnt running that great anymore. Good luck and welcome to the .org!

whoa, u have auto, so u think u have ceiling? not really, i mean, there are probably more mods to do wit auto, because u have all those extra mods to match the power and kick of a 5spd, lol, like vb mod but welcome to the org, and my next car is probably gonna be another maxima, maybe another gen, but if its the same gen u can carry ure mods over to the next car....or sell...u wont lose out in the end if u mod....

I guess I have a lot of reading to do. I think that I am going to focus on performance mods first. You guys have been really helpful I really look forward to learning more from you guys. I am curious on learning more about improving transmission response.
