Pics of 350Z seats in my Max

I've had some 350Z seats in my Max since about October or so. I've been lazy about getting a homepage started, but I've just put a couple of pics on Cardomain. Check my homepage, currently page 3. Some southeast guys got to see them at a meet in Montgomery last month, and I've had a couple of inquiries since then.

My main reason for getting them was for comfort. I make a 3.5-4 hour drive about 8 times a month. I like the stock seats fine for short trips, but after a couple of hours my back usually hurts. Adjusting the power seats every so often helped, but I wanted to try something else. I saw some 350Z seats on E-bay, and they looked a lot more body-conforming. Plus, they just look pretty cool in general! If I hadn't gotten them for so cheap ($300 shipped), I probably wouldn't have done this.

Talking with a few different guys, the cheapest and easiest way to get them to fit seemed to be to combine them with the stock seats. I used the stock base/rails/seatpan. This allowed me to keep the stock power adjustments. The 350Z cushion went around the seatpan, and the seatback bolted up without too much trouble. I used some washers as spacers to get the seat bottom to be at the correct height and incline. I still might take them back out and put some foam in between the cushion and seatpan to tweak it to my liking a little bit more. The only other thing I wish I could change would be getting them to match the back seat. The pics make you think they would match the grey cloth seats in back, but they actually are for the most part black. Some guys recommended getting the rear seat covered in the same fabric. I need to look into that to see what it would cost.

They are much more comfortable on long trips. I still have to adjust them every now and then, but I'm not sure if I could ever find a car that has seats that I would find 100% comfortable. One thing that I really like about them is the headrest (ignore the stain from my greasy head!). When in laid-back mode on the interstate, it holds your head more tilted forward than the stock seat. The side bolsters help tremendously when cornering hard.

All in all, I'm very glad I did this. It's a good idea for you guys if you can find a cheap set as more 350Zs come out. I'd of course prefer the car with them, but hey, I'll take what I can get for now. Sorry, I didn't take any pics of the surgery, but it was pretty straightforward after taking a good look at it. Let me know if you have any questions.

Those look real nice. That's the way it SHOULD have been from the factory. I agree w/ u about the stock seats, only good for short trips. I drive some long distances for work and my back starts to hurt after bout an hr. I was actually looking into Sentra SER seats. I had test driven one and I loved its seats. They're confortable and they got nice bolsters to keep my skinny *ss planted around corners (something that the stock "old man" Maxima seats don't do to me, lol).

wow, impressive.

Sentra SE-R seats? Aren't they like red/black? Or I think the newer ones came with white/black. But I think you should keep your stock seats instead of getting those. They don't look that great and it feels like the seats are made out of basketball shorts. But I guess if it's strictly for comfort then, go ahead.

Definitely look good. If I could get them for that price, I would have put them in instead of my Racing seats. I still might! These look much more OEM.. I don't really like the look of racing seats.

I know what u mean, I'm not refering to the looks at all on those red-black seat, lol. I was refering to their confort and function. For looks I could either put seat covers to match my interior (cheap way), or have an interior shop change the fabric to match my interior (clean but $ way). I don't want leather down here in Miami. It's too damn sunny, I'd burn my rear end, so I'll stick to cloth. Also, the seats on the older SERs are excellent, IMO better than the newer SER seats (refering to bolstering!!! lol, no flaming!). And they don't have the wild color schemes of the newer ones. BUT IT SUX TO HAVE A BEIGE INTERIOR! Can't do anything in there cus it wouldn't match. Just wood trim! lol

The camera/flash make it look that way. I mean it doesn't look terrible, but in person it looks a lot different. They're black in person. The center section is actually a weave of black with very subtle yellow and blue. I'd love to get the back seat recovered.

I have seen these seats in person, and they looked even better in person. The pics don't do them justice. Man, I should have taken up your offer to sit in them. Doh!

Thats a great idea

I never knew 350z seats were this cheap already. I was considering 300zx seats but the headrests are brick hard compared to the pillow soft headrests we have stock.

I never knew anyone used the headrest while driving. I'd be looking at the ceiling if I were to use them.

I use the headrest while driving once in a while, you have to adjust it to work for you, but once you do I think its comfortable to lean against it.

ALSO, those seats look amazing, they seem to add so much more sportyness to the interior of the Max while not looking ricey at all. I want to do this but i'll probably mess up the brackets and mounts and end up giving up.

I use to own a 300zx: the seats in that car were great. They look similiar to the ones in the 350z. They were comfortable, they hugged the sides of my body and loved how those seats seem to hold you in the seat itself. I would saved them but blue clothe would look weird with tan leather.

They look awsome! I need to find some leather ones for my piece.

If you really want the seats to match, you could try finding a company that makes aftermarket seat covers (cloth or leather) for both 4th gen maximas and 350z's. Then you could order the fronts from a 350 and the rears from the maxima in the same color, and hypothetically they would be made using that same material.

Ok, so can we get pretty much any seat from a recent Nissan/Infiniti and get it to fit this easily? More specifically the 300ZX, 350, G35c, SE-R...etc? Which of those seats is probably the best? Lightest? Thanks guys.....

Seats only have a power and ground wire to hook up. Even if the plugs didnt match, it wouldnt be too hard to make it work.

Those look excellent! I like how they look chizled(More Sparco-ish) I guess, it makes the cockpit stand out more, and makes your interior look more of a sports car. Great idea!

The 350Z seats look hot! I want to put them in my 3rd gen but what about the rear seat. It won't match. Carbon cloth 350Z seats up front and leather in the back?!?!
