Nissan OEM filters

The parts guy at my local Nissan dealer insists that the 15208-65F00 filter is as good as the 15208-9E000 for the VQ35DE.

I'm going to bet him two filters that they aren't. I'll buy one of each, and open them up in front of him. If they are constructed the same, I'll buy another filter. If they aren't, he buys me two of my choice.

What's the easiest way to open one up? What's the cheapest way? Is there a third way that's a happy medium?

Why not just print these pictures:

And ask if he knows the difference between cardboard and metal.

The only reason I wouldn't print those pictures was that I'd forgotten they were available ;-)

Many, many thanks. It will be a fun visit.

I decided not to bother with the Nissan filter (or dope slapping the Nissan Parts guy.) Went with the Mobil 1 M-105 (which I'll admit worried me when I saw how big it is)

Next change comes the switch to synthetic (finally finished of the case of GTX 5w-30)
