My biggest KILL ever!!!!! (long but worth reading)

Last night I was coming back from my girlfriends house and this yellow mustang 5.0 LX pulls up next to me. It looked like a 92 model, and by the way it sounded and all the gauges I knew for sure it was not stock. So after fooling around for about 2 miles we lign up at a ligt (I was pretty sure I was going to loose but worth trying). The light turns green and we both take off. At 90 I had him by 2 cars and called quits, turned on my hazards and stepped on my brakes, and just as I suspected the guy flies by me (sore looser). He get cought up on another light and we lign up again and I smoke him again. He tried 3 times and lost each time. We later pulled over and started talking. Of cours his first question was what I got under the hood and I showed him (Frankencar mid pipe & K&N). He didnt want to believe it so he looked under the car and guess what: stock!! I asked him what he had so now here comes the funny part: Headers, Full exhaust, Gear and Intake. Now I can honestly say that my max is a fast car

Nice kill, I raced similar Mustang a while ago and beat him pretty bad. I think he was very surprized by the look on his face was when I was passing him. Maybe sound of intake scared him

Funny u say that, but this guy at my work has a 92 LX also (he traded his 2000 GT for it, go figure) and he always talks about racing me and taking me back to school. I actually believed that he would beat me cause he has similar mods to the guy I raced last night, but from what I experienced last night, he better bring a 100 shot of NOS, cause he will get spanked

When me and the guy talked after racing 3 times, he sounded pretty pi$$ed, but tried acting like it wasnt a big deal to him.

Maybe he was a bad driver. I owned an 86 LX 5.0 for 6 years and bought it brand new. The only mods I had when I took it to the track were a K&N airfilter, removed inner fender airbox baffle and I bumped the timing up. I ran a best of 14.47 and conistantly ran 14.6's with bad traction and having to baby it out of the whole. That should be good enough to beat a mildly modded Maxima. By the way, the 86 Mustang 5.0 was rated at 200hp/285tq. The 225 horse motor came out in 1987.

Nice kill though!

I understand 1st run he could not get a traction, but 3 runs I think he should get a clue as to how to lunch his car. It may be that he was a bad driver, but Im not all that experienced either and I smoked him pretty easily.

Cars are much faster these days than before. A 5.0 is not what they used to be. Now if he goes and buys a SC look out. Good kill BTW

S/C will definitely breath some life into a 5.0 Mustang. So will the old bore/stroke combo. Definitely a good kill. Any RWD sports (ok, semi sports car) car kill is a good one, especially when they have a V8 under the hood.

There are three things wrong with your post:
1.) Talking about street racing will get you a now...

2.) You're in the 5th gen forum posting about your 4th gen.

3.) This thread is seven years old. Did you not look at the dates?

Geezus...look closer people. I'll admit, when I saw the "02-05..." it kind of threw me for a loop. But I saw the "2003" after I looked harder.

i think that guy probably didnt know how to race. a stick 03 gt makes 260hp and 300 tq. Also stock runs 14.3. With slicks they would run in the 13s stock. im gonna say he either didn t know whar he was doing.

So... it's obviously against the rules to talk about kills... (and just on the side, I swear to god I never heard that term in this context before. Hilarious!) but is it also against the rules to talk about being killed?

Different point of view. Much more humbling. Far more entertaining.

Yeah, it probably is just the same. Street Racing is street racing, even when you lose.

Never mind. Sure would be a fun thread, though.

More like high 14s stock. Automatics about a half second slower.

However, I'd definitely take a 5.0 Fox body, preferably an LX. So easy to make them really, really quick. Wish my Maxima was as easy to modify.

They're only easy to mod because Ford half-@ssed the engineering on the 5.0 from the start

yeah.. you never no what your getting with a 5.0,.. my buddy has an LX,.. that looks pretty stock,.. and the body on it is eh.. untill you get up close and see the roll cage.. tubbed back.. and his 10.8 timeslip lol,...but yeah.. if they are stockish or with I/H/E the max should run with the best of them... on that note..

IBTL...
