The Y-Pipe is on!

It was installed since Saturday but I didn't feel like posting it until now. I would like to thank my dad for helping me with the install. It was raining on and off on Saturday so that slow us down a bit. The ironic part was that the sun came up when the installation was finished. Total time to get it done was about 3.5-4 hours. There was a slight fitment problem but nothing major though.

Aw man, the car is definately louder but it's not annoyingly(is that even a word?) loud. If I accelerate hard from a stoplight I can hear the y-pipe over the intake(like many on this board have said). Hopefully these noises will quiet down after a week or so.

I parked the car in an empty parking lot to listen to the rear end of the car. To my amazement it was dead quiet! Before the y-pipe, my car would make a 'put put put' type noise.

Another thing I noticed is that my car starts up more quickly now. The engine rev more easily and it sounds smoother too!

So far so good. I'm happy I made the purchase.

You can hear the Y-pipe?
Or do you mean you can hear your exhaust, since you have the Stillen B-pipe with removes the resonator?

Here's a nice test. Drive around 65MPH+ and then hit the gas, you should notice a huge difference.

Congrats on the purchase.

Re: The Y-Pipe is on!

If your Ypipe sounds louder than your intake at any point, you should consider that you might have a leak somewhere. My Cattman is no louder than stock at idle and cruising speeds, and you hear a small gurgle with throttle. Not loud at all... Were it not for potential emissions testing problems, I think the Y pipe is a mod everyone should get.

Does anyone make a Y pipe for Cal-spec cars? I think at one point people were not but then they were? Does Cattman?

This may sound dumb but when you say 'exhaust' you're talking about the muffler right?

I only hear the noise when I accelerate hard but if I'm cruising the noise is like stock.

I checked(and listened) under the car while the car was running. I was pretty sure there weren't any leaks. Maybe I was wrong. I know describing sounds with words is hard but can somebody tell me how it should sound if the car is leaking?

With mine I noticed that no matter how tight I got it on, there was still a little putt-putt kinda noise, very subdued, that was really only noticable at slower around-town idle speeds (I notice the sound echoes back from parked cars as I drive by, very slight but it's there)

There may be a teeeeeny leak but I removed it at least once and checked, even put in new gaskets and re-attached. Still the little bit of putt-putt. No one can really notice it but me.
