Time for a little comparison of the effects of postive manifold pressure on the VQ30DE.

Supercharged 2000 Maxima GXE 5-speed:
3" Cattman Y-pipe
3" Catayltic Converter
GReddy Power Extreme muffler
19" rims w/ 245/35/19 tires
Running 7.5psi boost

0-60 time= 5.6 to 6.6 seconds (dependant on wheel spin)

Naturally Aspirated 2000 Maxima GXE 5-speed:
3" Cattman Y-pipe
3" Catayltic Converter
GReddy Power Extreme muffler
19" rims w/ 245/35/19 tires
Running 0psi boost

0-60 time= 6.4 to 6.6 seconds (no wheel spin)

Surprisingly the exhaust seems to have no negative effect on my low end power output...
Below 4500 rpm the car feels the same as when I had the S/C'er on...
5000 rpm+ feels alot weaker though...car runs outta breath.

THIS JUST IN:

New mod being installed tomorrow that will both reduce unsprung weight & drop my E.T. significantly (hopefully)...
I'm looking at a total weight savings of close to 100lbs...
And NO I am not getting liposuction!

CAN ANYBODY GUESS WHAT THAT MOD COULD BE?

Pics should be up tomorrow.

oh yea...
another factor that may have played a part...

The "Service Engine Soon" light was on for testing with the supercharger on/off...
This is being caused by two fried O2 sensors...
My new ones will be here Monday...
Hopefully that will power me up a little too!

In case you're wondering...
Testing was done w/ the GTech Pro accelerometer <~~ is that even really a word?
Testing was done on the same stretch of road with a temperature difference of only 3 degrees, similar humidity as well...

Sure, "accelerometer" is a real word! The device was able to give you your 0-60 time by sensing the acceleration of your car and measuring the amount of time it took to reach 60mph.

I'm guessing that its stock wheels. Cuz flywheels and CF hoods don't reduce unsprung weight.. LOL

100 lbs?

Lovesick: lol, how much exactly do you think a flywheel weighs that he could save 100 lbs by getting it shaved?

Taking out your spare tire?
backseat?
Subwoofer box?

He said UNSPRUNG weight. Anything in the body of the car is SPRUNG(?) weight. Has to be rims at this point, unless you are going to drive without any brakes.

ok i think this is what he is doing. we all have heard the 1 lbs of unsprung = 10lbs of sprung weight. he said he was reducing unsprung weight and saving 100lbs, not 100lbs. of unsprung weight. i think he's just getting slightly lighter, and smaller rims.

hmm

To think of it.. yeah, it can very well be the rims... ossuming the 19s wheel + tire combo weigh around 50 lbs... which is probably light for a 19" wheel+tire.... If the new rims are some 15s which weigh around 15 lbs each, the tire should be like 20 or so lbs... that is like 100 lbs....

Does anyone know how much .XX do each 10 lbs or so take off your 1/4 mile? And what is more effective in reducing, sprung weight or unsprung weight? I guess sprung?

How the hell?!
That's interesting, I guess your 19s weigh around 80 lbs as a rim and tire combo each... lol
Or you are going to run the 18s with no tires...

What brand is the 18" rim? That is a lot of weight to reduce with swapping rims on a 1" diameter less..

The norm for drag racing is usually for every 100 lbs. you remove from the car it seems to get about a .10 quicker.

Straight lines are for fast cars, curves are for fast drivers.

When in a spin........stomp it and grin!!!
