A few folks were commenting on the chase scenes in the movie The Fast and the Flatulent...
My favorite movie chase scene of all time has to be the one from the Steve McQueen movie BULLITT. What's your favorite movie chase scene?
Please advise...

Yeah, Bullitt, with Steve McQueen. It's my favorite cuz it's set in San Francisco, and since that's where I lived most of my life, the sites are familiar (such as the Marina Safeway). The unrealistic part is that they are on Doyle Drive and then somehow they get out into the countryside, where of course, the bad guys flip their car (or crash it, I forget).

Bullitt......
Yeah. I agree, Bullitt. It might be because I lived in the area at the time (Mare Island Navy Base) when the movie was being shot and after seeing the movie chase, drove over much of the route. Much slower of course in my 1960 Plymouth Savoy 2dr.

That was an S8 in ronin, not an M5. The E39 M5 wasnt even out (thought it may have been in europe, i dont know) when that movie was made. That S8 had nitrous by the way, at least according to the movie it did... i dont know if they REALLY installed nitrous in it... doubt it. Thats my favorite chase scene... another one that sticks in my mind is the one in Bullitt and in the Val Kilmer/ Elizabeth Shue movie the Saint.

You're both right. The main car is an S8 with nitrous. But towards the end, there is definitely a great chase scene with an M5. It's nice, but I like the new generation M5 better (duh). That S8 is really sweet, too.

Hey this may not be in the same category, but don't forget the chase scene in Nothing But Trouble, where Chevy Chase has the phat-a$$ Bimmer and he tried to outrun that cop. It's pretty funny, and that Bimmer looks tight, even though it's old.

Good old Miami Vice...
There were quite a few scenes from that show I liked. One of them was the white Ferrari Testarossa chasing the Lamborghini in the streets of Miami. Another one was the older black Ferrari chasing the Porsche. No more of these goodies....

And in Ronin (just watched again last night) that does look like an older 540 but I can't be sure. An awesome movie.

Can't believe nobody mentioned the longest hot pursuit I can remember. First you had two Illinois state trooper chasing Jake & Elwood inside the shopping mall.
Then you had a good 30 min of everything but the kitchen sink chasing them through downtown Chicago.
Remember lower Wacker drive scenes showing 100mph+ under the tracks? The film wasn't sped up - the DVD shows how they used people walking on the sidewalks to add reference speed.

Bullett is the grandfather of chase schenes. You gotta love that Mustang fastback image popping up in the bad guys rear view mirror and the way the stuntman took out a camera at a parked car.
But check out "The Seven Ups" with Roy Schieder; most realistic chase scene ever. The abrupt ending is awesome. Also, a movie "Gumball Rallye" has a number of racing scenes but the best is a race between the AC Cobra and the Ferrari in the mountains at night.

Definitely the best chase scenes I've ever seen. The best part is when DeNiro pulls a righthand 270 because the left turn would have been too tight. Absolutely priceless.

Actually. Gone had the worst story in history. Ronin's storyline is actually good. I believe you have to be familar w/ the polictial situation in Europe to appreciate the story.
Ronin definately. Reason. One of the longest UNCUT car scenes I have watched. You guys know how hard or how good you have to be to directly such long running scenes? Very tough. Mess up once and you gotta set up again for probably a few days. Ie.. Ronin M5, Peugot on the freeway going the wrong way.
