Injen CAI dyno numbers...
Ok well I found this on Injens site and just wanted to show all the peeps who have been waiting to see a 2004 maxima dynoed. Im confused about there claimed gains by looking at the chart. Maybe some of you guys can help. Heres the link: http://www.injen.com/webpages/testin...nal/RD1945.jpg

There seems to be a disconnect between these dyno numbers and the times people are getting with the car at the track. For the 6th gen to be running mid-14's @ 95-96 stock auto, it needs to be making a lot more power than this. This dyno is a tad better at the top-end, but overall lower (area under the curve) than what a 5th gen VQ35 puts down (usually 200-205 whp and 220-225 wtq)
So I'd take these numbers like a grain of salt. I'd love to see somebody here get an independent dyno done on their car on a Dynojet.

What I dont get is how they claimed 18.1 tq and 16.1 hp. it looks like gained about 10 tq and 8 or 9 hp. Anyways my intake should be here soon, I cant wait! I would love to dyno my max but theres nowhere close unless I drive to dallas. I may do that but it wont be anytime soon.

There torque gain came at ~4250 RPM, and their horsepower gain appears to be at ~5100 RPM. They gained 8 PEAK horsepower, and 10 PEAK footpounds of torque. At 4250 RPM the car makes about 15-20 more pound feet of torque with the injen intake then with the stock system. This will increase your midrange pull more noticably then it will your top end pull.
This is the reason why you can't always add the 10hp, 15hp and 5hp together, and say you gained 30hp, unless the numbers quoted are PEAK hp increases, which hardly anyone uses in advertising.

Hmm...if this was an automatic dyno I could almost believe it. But it says 6spd.

The Mazda guys are having a lot of trouble lately getting accurate dynos due to the computer running a very rich mixture and retarding timing when on the dyno because it senses all the wheelspin and goes into a mild safe mode. Something similar to that happening on the new Max is another possibility as well. I wonder if there were any sort of warning lights or anything on the dash of the Max, like an ABS light. That's what shows up on the Mazdas (6s, RX-8, etc).
