I just installed a panasonic deck replacing my bose head unit...but the deck is stick out.... what did you all do to fix this? did you all drill another hole ?? thanx!

The only way I know of is to drill new holes where you want the deck to sit, you also have to grind or drill out the other holes to get rid of the extra bent in metal(maybe a hammer works too?) I haven't done this yet though cause it is still too damn cold.

If you want it flush mounted you will need to get a custom fabricated bracket made by a car audio shop....

All radios will stick out. The holes on the sides of aftermarket radios are designed specifically to line up with what is called an "iso-din" application (what is in our cars). Notice if you remove your faceplate (on most radios) the exposed panel actually IS flush with the dash, in most cases.

But, to get the faceplace to sit flush you will need to take the factory brackets and drill holes approximately 1/2" directly to the rear of the holes that you are currently using. Make sure the holes are exactly behind the current ones, not below or above or your radio will be crooked and uneven. Also by moving the radio back, you will be able to use the plastic trim piece that came with the radio, which you would normally discard when installing an iso-din radio.

I have a brand new Kenwood 817 deck, and it fits FLUSH!!! My Sony active black M600 was stolen a month ago, and it stuck out like 1/2 inch, but this Kenwood fits flush with the back of the trim bezel around the radio.

You have your solution, go execute it.

yep, I was able to use Kenwood's plastic trim too, no cutting or drilling!

The kenwood solution is only valid on their MASK radios, aka the ones that the face flips over on. They make a special trim piece for iso-dins. The lower model kenwoods will give the same sticking out problem.

ok ok..i do this at least once a day..for toyota..and nissans and some others..its called a ISO mount...the best way to make it look super sweet is...to remove your stock radio with pocket..in its original brackets.....now remove your stock deck..slip in your aftermarket stereo WITH faceplate, WITH the trim ring...now make a note of where the holes line up and drill..its 4 holes..takes me about 4 minits to get it aligned and drilled...when your done you have a awesome looking deck behind your dash bezel peice...The soloution is in the install..Nothing needs to be fabricated..nothing special is needed..just a drill! Or have a shop Custom-iso mount your deck..bring it to a shop..and ask them to make the face flush with the pocket.! should charge you like 12 bucks

So I suppose this should be common sense, but I'll go ahead and say it:

Drill the bracket, not the deck. You don't want to damage your deck or get bits of metal into it which may short it out.

OOOOOH.....i should mention to use a PENCIL and a ruler to draw lines corresponding to the new holes you need to drill on the bracket...from your new stereo..when you line up the new stereo on top of your existing one still mounted to its brackets.just use a ruler and draw straight down from the holes you wanna use on your deck..then REMOVE your old radio..and drill into the bracket. Sorry about the mix-up

The rim will fit if your good with a dremel.

I got mine to fit on my rockford. the ring makes it look like it belongs there.
