00VI swap question
Got 2 00VI swap questions. From what i've read 4th gen IACV is located on the manifold and the 5th gen is located on the throttle body. I doubt the connectors are the same. Is there a way to use the IACV on the 5th gen TB instead of the 4th? If not how do you go about rigging the 4th gen IACV to work? I also read that people with the 00VI swap are using some type of RPM switch to "activate" the 00VI. Does this mean I must get this RPM switch in order to get the gains from the 00VI?

It would be pointless to install a VI and not have something open it at a given RPM. So yes you'll need something to open it up at a higher RPM so it can breath better and contiue to make power.
Most I've read have fab'ed up a way to reuse the 4th gen IACV.

interesting. just so happens i got a 5th gen IACV sitting right here and I just so happen to know it'll work in my PF TB. hmmm..

+1....so the 5th gen IACV fits fine in the PF TB?

Pics are below first I forgot how it goes into the 4th gen IACV so if some can post a pic of it, since I don't have one, would be helpful. I first cut/broke the outer plastic housing far enough that it would go into the 5th gen IACV see pics 1&2. Next I did NOT do any rewiring of the 4th gen IACV plug see pics to match wiring (pic 3 white/blue strip is on top right with yellow on the left, white/green strip is on bottom right with purple on the left). Now on the 5th gen IACV I had to SLIGHTLY bend the outer pins so the 4th gen plug would go in. So just bend the pins little by little until you can get the to go in, this way you will not break a pin off and be pissed. Next the plug goes in with the yellow and purple wires facing you will the yellow on top and purple on bottom . Then just tape it up so it won't go anywhere.

SDot82 Thanks for the info. I am changing out my intake this weekend and was planning on having to do alot of cutting and splicing on the wiring harness to the iacv.I bought an adapter so I could use my old throttle body but now I'll just leave the 5th gen throttle body on.Saved me alot of headache! Thanks!

yea i was looking at that yesterday evening and noticed that the piece that bolts to the TB that houses the IACV won't fit. At least not on my '95 it won't.

Actually that disc is not the EGR valve itself. It's the EGR-BPT valve... and yes it can be relocated without too much trouble if you need to do so.
Sdot I have a question: it appears as if you only used the main IACV connector. On the 4th gen there are 3 though.. the extra 2 used to adjust idle speed when the A/C or P/S are in use (ie bump up idle speed so the rpms don't drop too low)... So do you have any problems with your idle speed dropping a lot when the A/C and or P/S are drawing heavy loads on the engine (like steering at a stand still in a parking lot for example)?

He did a DEK swap IIRC.

Personally, I have done a LOT of research on 3.5 and 00VI and I have never seen anything about using 5Gen IACV without having idle problems. This should definately change a lot of stories with the swap. Now we don't have to worry about blocking off the A33 TB and making a mounting location for A32 IACV provided that we buy an A33 TB. I believe it should become unheard of to use the A32 TB and IACV given this information. Not only would it make the swap easier and faster, but it would also be the same price since you won't have to purchase an IACV adaptor plate or create/buy a mounting bracket for the A32 IACV.
Great information!
