It's just a piece of pipe. You can get that anywhere. check ebay. It's also very illegal and doesn't add any hp.

yeah, search ebay, they are called "high flow cats" in most instances and sold in the $40 range. And regardless of what some of these guys who've never tried it will tell you, it can and will make a noticeable difference (depending on your setup)

1. They really dont make a big difference in HP.
2. They are good for dyno runs for a/f ratio.
3. They are not necessarily illegal. What is illegal is replacing a properly funtioning cat.

No, you're wrong. Of course it will add power, as it's freeing up exhaust flow. But it is nothing noticeable if you don't have boost, and it's terrible for the environment.

And to the other genius; I'm sorry I guess I'm wrong because you say it will free up flow somewhat and won't be noticeable - I say it will free up flow/slight hp and can be noticeable (depending on setup) like I said before. I guess we're all entitled to our own opinions then, huh. I just hope yours isn't derived from reading the opinions of others, who in turn have come to their conclusions based upon what they have read online and not actually done.

Do you have a link, or better yet a runfile?

Is it a 3rd party dyno, or a companys dyno that's trying to sell you their part?

The only reason I have a test pipe is to tune, this would back up Dubbya's post 100%.
I don't use it on the street, only on the dyno.

a y-pipe makes a noticeable difference. only if you had a clogged up cat or a malfunctioning one would replacing it make a difference. but over a fine stock cat, you will not notice the difference. it just isn't enough of an improvement.

Go to warpspeedperformance.com, they have a chart and some info about stock cats vs. hi-flow cats. you put a test pipe on there and you have no restrictions. check it out. I have an intake,y pipe and test pipe with stock b pipe and muffler. I would say adding all that added about 20% more loudness.

Almost forgot, you will need to purchase a MIL Eliminator for your rear O2 sensor. I got mine for 13 dollars on ebay.

no joke. i had to go back out and buy a new cat. converter when time to pass emissions came. most people will say that if you do gain any horsepower its negligable like 1hp or something, the day i switched my catalytic converter back in i could have sworn my car felt slower lol.. but thats all in your head.

Mine has been fine for over 2 years w/test pipe and y-pipe.

But to eliminate any doubt for you people needing to get smog tested, by all means, buy the o2 sim.

my 98 has the s pipe/o2 housing that has a matched 2.75 inlet, but the rest of the b pipe is somewhere around 2". i know for sure the b to muff piping is 2" (i.d. or o.d. i foregot). the biggest restriction in a 4th gen is the y pipe, then the b pipe, then the muffler.

Don't believe everything that CE says on their website...most of the claims that they make are BS. The dyno that they have on there for the test pipe is most likely fake, or it's from a boosted application. A resonated straight pipe certainly won't make the exhaust sound any better than when the stock cat was on there either.
