I would really love to install a 350Z muffler on my car. Would it be possible to run the pipe to the other side of the car to make it look like dual exhaust? I saw one thread on this but no real answers.

look like???...buy 2 350z mufflers from a junk yard or something and then get a muffler shop to install it...

I remember one guy who tried way back in the day, and it turned out to be way more expensive and complicated then it originally seemed...he finally gave up and sold it...

the muffler shop he was using had to cut out all kinds of stuff including impacting the spare tire well that hangs down...so you can't carry the spare tire in there anymore...

Cut off the entire spare tire well and then weld on a plate to cover the hole. You'll need to seal the trunk's interior so that water doesn't leak in. Reroute the Evap canister box further towards the center of the car. Then you will have plenty of room to use the 350Z muffler. You'll still need to to use a Y-diverter since the 350Z has dual inlets, but you will have plenty of space to do such.

im not sure if the g35 and 350z exhaust set-ups are different, but if they are not, they muffler is one piece and has one inlet-dual outlet.

i dont understand why people think the stock 350Z and G35 sounds so sick. i mean it sounds good, but its not that great, and certainly not worth all the time and money to fit it to a maxima.

its almost a tru dual but it joins for a sec and then splits again. i guess they did that to save some space

i think it sounds really sick in my oppinion people liek it cause they like it people just think differnt but o well it is a lot of work for a muffler but if u like it enough just do it its worth it if its what u really want

What's shown in the picture is a true dual with an X-pipe crossover.

They do that to improve exhaust extraction. Exhaust flow from one bank helps extract exhaust from the other bank.

but the ypipe on that car only has one outlet, so how can that be an x-pipe.

uhh... RWD cars don't have a Y-Pipe. What is shown is what is done for just about every RWD car that is a V-6 or V-8 as far as performance is concerened. The X portion allows scaveging like what Stephen said.

And wow that exhaust looks clean. Someday I will get a Z or a G35 and be able to enjoy such options.

if RWD cars dont have a ypipe, then what is the pipe called that connects the headders to the rest of the exhaust? or is it jsut a strait pipe fomr one to the other?

its called a crossover pipe.....on true dual set ups like Mustangs and the Z it connects or crosses over to prevent scavenging and even exhaust flow out the tips...it helps with low end torque too....on setups such as most chevys its still a cross-over pipe but goes into a single outlet usuallt to a dual outlet muffler....exceptions are the corvette

Honestly I don't know, but I am 80% sure the muffler is too large to mount in our stock location, so I'm going with a No.

Indeed it is, sorry for misleading you guys. It is a single inlet dual outlet, however I still think the dimensions are going to be too large to fit in the current muffler spot.
