Recommend 16" replacement tires

Recommend 16" replacement tires
My stock 16" tires are getting near time for replacement. I want to keep the rims and appreciate input on specific tires to look at. I will be using these strictly for regular driving on concrete/ asphalt roads, minimal snow and no racing. I never get above 100 mph. Thanks

Re: Recommend 16" replacement tires
I recently replaced my original OEM Toyo's with Bridgestone RE850's. They tend to get good overall reviews, and I've been happy with them. The squealing I used to get from the Toyo's are gone, and they seem to handle well. Best thing is they are relatively inexpensive, around $100.00 each.
Go to TireRack.com to check them out. If you have a Wheel Works (also known as Tires Plus) near you, they will match TireRack's price.

I replaced the stock tires (Toyos sucked, 32k miles with tire rotation and proper inflation) with BFG G Force 225/55s zr16. The grip is much better and the tires were $105 each from the Tirerack.
The wider tire fills in the large gap on the fender. The 215/55 r16 looks too small on the 5th gen Max.

I would go with 225/60/16. Our cars are geared a little bit low and this will help that in addition to longer tire life. Your speedometer will be off slightly but you won't be registering as many miles on your car either.

can you be more specific?
Could you explain how this change will affect the milage, wear, and speedo? I saw the different revs per mile in the tirerack specs. and these numbers seem to vary with different tires of the same size.

Your current 215/55/16 tire is 215/24.5 x .55 x 2 + 16 = 25.31" diameter tire. 225/60/16 is 225/24.5 x .60 x 2 + 16 = 26.63" or a difference of 1.32 inches = 5.2% less rpm for a given speed.
Example, at 60 mph the rpm you are turning would transulate into 63.13 mph at the same rpm after the tire change. Your speedometer would still read the same rpm at 60 mph but your car would be going 3.13 mph faster.

Gents...please re-read his post...regular
driving, never over 100 mph...he does not need nor want ballz-out Z-rated performance/bigger/complex tires, just good, reasonably priced STREET tires!
Darnelle...you have lots of great tires reasonably close to 100 clams in the 215/55/16 size, Bridgestone RE950s, the Yokohama Avids in both T4 and H4s (I would take the H4s) several Bridgesone Turanzas (softer riding than the RE950) and last the Pirelli P6000.
For the price, I would take the Avid H4's...I have these tires on my wife's car and rate hem very highly...soft, quiet, great grip, looong tread life....
good luck
