On my first maxima, same symptoms, it was the MAF...remove it and try some MAF cleaner.

I was able to find a replacement in a local scrap yard.

The NHTSA uses your vin to verify that it is a maxima....

Yea if it is really bad I would repair it. I think mine has about one more year of life in it. If the bolts holding the engine support give out while driving it could lead to a crash.

If you rev it up and let off the gas and get the rattle it is the precats. If it rattles during acceleration or when i you push the throttle down it could be low oil or your timing chain tensioner.

yeah i actually had a factory defect strut that i had to replace already. I plan on doing the bushings myself. It doesnt seem too hard to do.
