To answer my own question it needs power from the ign start wire. I tapped the black/green wire off the ign which turns to red/blue on the main fuse panel and this fixed my hard start issue.

One other question, what does the start signal wire do? Does it signal the starter to start or the ecu to turn on the injectors or ignition.
